"But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Matthew 24:36.

3. How can we be ready for the second coming of Jesus?

"Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:36.

4. Since we don't know the exact time of the second coming of Jesus, is it possible to know if the end is near?

Yes.

"Now from the fig tree learn this parable. When its branch has now become tender, and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near. Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." Matthew 24:32,33.

5. What signs in the religious world indicate that the second coming of Jesus is near?

"For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will lead many astray." Matthew 24:5.

"Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray." Matthew 24:11.

"For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones." Matthew 24:24.

6. What did Jesus predict concerning international conflicts?

"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places." Matthew 24:6,7.

"The nations were angry, and your wrath came, as did the time for the dead to be judged, and to give your bondservants the prophets, their reward, as well as to the saints, and those who fear your name, to the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth." Revelation 11:18.

8. What did Jesus say would constitute "the great signs from heaven?"

"But in those days, after that oppression, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken." Mark 13:24,25.

NOTE: The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light.Websters New International Dictionary, Second Edition, Unabridged (1934), define "Dark Day":"May 19, 1780, when an unexplained darkness extended over all New England."

The stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. "One of the most remarkable of these 'Meteoric Showers' came after midnight on November 12, 1833. The meteors were said to 'fall like snowflakes' as many as '200,000 within a few hours time' being visible at some places." -A Brief Text in Astronomy by William T. Skilling and Robert S. Richardson, revised edition (1959), p. 198. "A magnificent display of shooting stars startled the inhabitants of the Americas on November 12, 1833. ... Next day all was serene, but a new branch of astronomy, the study of the meteors, was founded."-Between the Planets by Fletcher G. Watson, (1941), p. 118, emphasis supplied.

9. What does the Scripture predict regarding the world economy in the last days?

"Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you. Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies. You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter. You have condemned and you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn't resist you." James 5:1-6.

10. What does the Scripture say about the social conditions of the world in the last days?

"But know this: that in the last days, grievous times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good, traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also." 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

11. How does the Scripture compare the society of Noah's day to our day?

"As it was in the days of Noah, even so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man. They ate, they drank, they married, and they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ship, and the flood came and destroyed them all." Luke 17:26, 27.

12. What will the people in the last days speak off?

"For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. For when they are saying, 'Peace and safety,'then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape." 1 Thessalonians 5:2, 3.

13. What is the final sign of the second coming of Jesus?
