Two Worlds Apart

Chapter 3

Everything felt so unreal it felt like a dream, that was until I actually found myself standing in front of the Martinez mansion, The Martinez mansion. The gate was like 9 ft tall, it was silver with gold stars on it, it looks so majestic. I stood there so astonished

was this happening?

"Good morning how can we help you?" I was brought out of my daze back to reality

What was that?

"Hello?" I here again

I turn my gaze to an intercom installed on the wall by the gate, then to the cameras on both sides of the gate staring down on me. I look back at the intercom and thanks to movies it wasn't so strange

like they do in the movies, I push the button at the bottom right and the red light comes on. with my finger still on it, I say

"Good morning I'm here to see Mrs Martinez"

I wait a while until a voice came in

"Name please"

I push the button again

"Courtney Jones"

I wait for the person to say something but there was nothing, just then the gate opens and I hesitantly walk in

I was really nervous

I walked on the pavement that led to a huge white Mansion. It was a white duplex, a very huge duplex may I add. It had a black roof and huge pillars

You know what, it's so hard to even explain

I slowly walked on the pavement carved at the side as I approached the mansion. Getting to the door, I ring the doorbell and a few minutes later a young lady opened the door

"I'm here to see Mrs Martinez" I said before she could ask what I wanted

"Yes she was informed you were at the gate, come in" she moved out of the way

I entered into the main hall and I couldn't stop myself from wanting to look around. There were a pair of stairs in the hallway that probably led to more rooms. At the left side, there was a door that I felt was the kitchen and on the right was a door leading to the living room

"This way please" she gestured towards the living room

I followed her and we entered into a palace of wonders. Everywhere was painted in white with a touch of gold and silver. they had two large windows that reached from the ceiling to the floor. It had transparent lace inner curtains and beautiful silver curtains on the outside hung on both sides of the window

There was a huge black center fur mat with a transparent glass table at the middle and a gold lion statue on it too, white cushions that were 2 one seater, 1 two seater and 1 three seater.

I was beyond amazed at the glorious view, this was unbelievable.

"Mrs Martinez will be down in a few minutes" and with that, she walked away.

I hesitated before I sat on the couch, it was so smooth and partially soft. I kept looking around, the interior decorator was definitely a professional.

"Courtney?" I hear a female voice and I turn around to see Mrs Martinez working towards me. she was as gorgeous as she always was on TV and in magazines

This is actually happening!!

"Good morning Ma'am" I said as I held on tightly to my purse chain

"You arrived on time, that's good um..." She stops Midway as she examined my outfit.

Did I mention I was nervous?

"Well then um...,Nice to meet you, I'm Barbara Martinez like I said over the phone and I would like you to sew for me. Gloria convinced me to and I saw what you did with her gown and I have to say it was ravishing, despite your... appearance, I hope you're as good as you make it look"

I could feel a lump in my throat, I knew my appearance wasn't going to impress her

"So let's sit" she sits on the sofa as I give a little distance before sitting

"So..." She clears her throat "our company is holding it's 20th anniversary in a month and I want you to sew a new dress" she said

"Alright ma'am what type of dress are you looking at?" I asked casually

"Well I was looking at a purple dinner gown. Um...I want something that screams wealth, class, elegance and over all beauty. I definitely should be the most dressed there, I don't have an exact picture so just dazzle me" she said with a smile as she puts her hands on her crossed legs

I clear my throat as I said "alright Mrs Martinez, I would need your measurements".

"Alright then" she gets up

I had no idea what I wanted to sew for this woman, I'll just have to take all the measurements possibly needed then search for something later.

I took out my measuring tape and I opened the note app on my phone as I started to take her measurements and I typed it down.

I kept measuring until I heard a familiar male voice from the hall

"Mom?"

"In here honey" she said as he walked into the living room

Eric Martinez

"Hey Mom" he said giving her a kiss on the cheek

"Hey honey, back from work?" She asked

"Not exactly, dad forgot his flashdrive, the soft copy of the blue print is on it" he said to her

"Oh I think it's on his desk, I'll help you get it" and she left

I was still measuring and she just walked away

I stood there like a garden nome, was I literally in the same room as Eric Martinez, THE Eric Martinez

I saw him once at Gloria's wedding, but I thought that was it, the first and the last time

He turned his attention from his phone to me, he's eyes widened a bit but he immediately cleared his throat

"Um aren't..aren't you the girl from Gloria's wedding?"

I hesitantly replied "ye..yes I am"

"What are you doing here?" He seemed suprise

"Your mom wants me to sew for her" I stated simply

"So you're Courtney" he knows me

I just nod

"What you did with Gloria's gown was incredible" he said with a smile

"Thanks" I smiled back, to be honest I actually liked the praises and complements

"Alright here it is" Mrs Martinez came back, handing the flash to Eric "and here's my fabric" she handed it over to me

Damn this looked expensive

"Thanks, I have to go now. It was nice meeting you again Courtney" and he walks away

Mrs Martinez looks at me with a raised brow "again?"

I just smile nervously as I picked up my tape to continue the measurements.
