Two Worlds Apart

Chapter 12

Eric's POV•

"Yeah mum I'm outside the store" I push the lock button on my key

"I already pre-ordered it so just tell them..." I cut her off

"Mum I know what to do, wait why am I picking it up?" I walked towards the glass door

"You're helping your mum out"

I just rolled my eyes "I gotta go, I'm here"

"Alright" and I hung up

I pushed the door in and walked into the store

"Oh that, it's $6000"

I looked up from my phone to see Courtney and her friend Sophia talking to the cashier. Courtney looked disappointed, she whispers something and the cashier said

"Seems like you really want that shoe" she gave Courtney an apologetic smile

"We can't always get what we want" she didn't have the money to pay for it. I couldn't help but feel bad, seems like she really wants it

"Let's go check for something cheaper and prettier" Sophia tryst to cheer her up and without thinking or having second thoughts, I said

"I'll pay for it"

Courtney's POV•

Eric?

"Mr Martinez" Sophia and the cashier say in sync

I gave him a puzzled look, did he just say he'd pay?

"You'll pay?" Now it was I and Sophia in sync

"Yeah" he approached us

Sophia turns to look at me with a grin

"That's so generous of you but I can't let you do that"

Sophia's grin dropped

"Why not, I insist" he persuaded

"Mr Martinez I can't let you pay for me"

"Courtney you really want this shoe" Sophia said

"I know but......" Sophia interrupts

"Thank you so much Mr Martinez, she'll take it"

Was she being serious?

Before I could say anything else, Eric's card was already swiped

"You..." I stopped midway and he just gave me a smile

"I'm here to pick up my mum's shoe, she already placed an order" he said to the cashier

"Sure of course" she types away on her computer before saying

"I'll get the shoes, and miss let me help you pack that" she gestured at my shoe

"Um oh alright"

She takes the shoe and walks away

I there, silently staring at the floor before I remembered I hadn't thanked him

"Thank you for helping me out" I finally looked up at him

"Sure." he smiled at me

"Here you are" she hands me a box and hands another to Eric

"Thanks you" we all tell her before heading out

"Since we're all leaving, why don't I just drop you guys off" he suggested

"No no we're okay, you've done enough for us

"I'm really not complaining Courtney"

"Our house's a bit far away Courtney" Sophia whispered to me and I shot her a glare

"We're fine, really"

"Alright if you say so" he unlocks his car

We stood there as he got into the car, waved at us and drove off

"You're such a kill joy" she walks away

I let out a sigh before following after her

Immediately I got home, I got all my equipment ready, took my measurments and I started sewing

I didn't want to waste anytime and I already knew what style I wanted to sew so there was really no reason delaying. I had finished arranging my shop so I'm going to move in in a few days.

"When will you be done with it?" Sophia asked from behind me

"I'm supposed to finish this tomorrow, so yeah tomorrow"

"Am I coming with you?"

I turn around to look at her

"Do you realize Theresa Romano will be there?"

"Of course I do, I'd be great to meet her" She said excitedly

Alright now I felt bad. Sophia had no idea how horrible that woman actually is and she really wanted to meet her

"Soph that lady's not as nice as she may seem" I tell her

"Wouldn't hurt to meet her though"

"You really can't come with me, I don't want Mrs Martinez making sure scene in front of everyone" I gently told her

"Well that is true, alright then maybe some other time. I'll be in the living room" she walks away

I definitely knew she wasn't happy, but I don't want Sophia mixed up in any of the Martinez affairs, I'm suffering enough from my over involvement, I don't want my friend to end up in any sort of mess
