Eric's POV•
I step out of my car and turn around, opening up the passengers seat for Miss Selene.
Yeah, I'm also wondering what on earth is happening.
After Miss Selene and I bumped into each other, we started talking later that day. It's been a week now and she insisted we have lunch together....so here we are
I open up the door to the restaurant, she walks in and I walk in behind her. We were led to our reserved table and we both had our seats
"This place is so lovely, I don't know why you didn't want to come here" she said curiously
I look around "just been here a lot" I lied. This was where I officiated my relationship with Courtney.
"Oh, we could leave if you're really not okay with it"
After bringing me here to begin with?
"No, it's fine. Are you ready to order?"
She shook her head "wine first"
I signal for the waiter
"What wine would you like?" I ask her
She turns to the waiter "please, can we get a seven rings cabernet sauvignon 2019?"
The waiter smile "of course, Miss"
She smile back "Thank you" then the waiter leaves
"So....tell me about yourself, Mr Martinez"
I sigh "there's nothing to know really. Nothing about my life would interest you"
She tilts her head "what about your love life? How's your relationship with Theresa, or you guys still aren't together"
I shake my head "I and Theresa ended a long time ago. Our relationship was one of a mutual background and nothing more"
She raises her brows "wow, thought you guys really had a good relationship"
"Not quite." Was all I said "what about you? How's your love life"
She chuckles, mine is a full rollercoaster

Courtney's POV•
I tilt my head a bit observing my sketch. I shade a bit and continue creating tiny beaded designs which covered the top of the dress.
I let out a sigh and drop the pencil, standing up and heading into the kitchen. I turn some water into a glass and take a huge sip...I was so thirsty.
I walk back to my dinning table and I pick up my phone, Daniel suddenly crossed my mind. I places the glass down and scroll through my contact before dialing his number
"Courtney Jones herself" I could hear the smile in his voice
I smile "Daniel Grey, how're you doing?"
"Me? I'm I'm really good, what can I say? How're you, hope you taking care of yourself?"
"Of course I am. I'll be going on leave soon"
He sighs "that's so much better, you need it"
"Here you go" of course they're together
"Who's that? Gloria?" I hear Eric's voice
"Um... it's Courtney" Daniel said
I could literally feel the silence
"Courtney? Can I...can I talk to her?"
Daniel was quiet for a while
"Courtney..."
I let in a deep breath... Hearing his voice made me feel a certain way "Give him the phone...." My voice dropped "please"

Eric's POV•
"So?"
I turn some wine in a glass before heading to seat in the living room "so what?"
Daniel sighs "do I really have to spell it out for you? How was your date?"
I take a sip from my wine glass and pick up the remote "my lunch was fine"
"So it wasn't a date"
I shook my head.
He sighs and his phone rings "um...can I get a drink?"
I get up "sure"
I head to the mini bar and grab a glass. I look through the drinks properly.....i don't need a drunk Daniel today.
I turn in some scotch before taking the glass to him
"That's so much better, you need it" he said
"Here you go" I hand him the glass
"Who's that? Gloria?" I take my seat
"Um... it's Courtney"
I slowly put my glass down "Courtney? Can I...can I talk to her?"
Daniel was quiet for a while
I mouthed a 'please'
"Courtney..."
He fell quiet for a while before taking the phone away from his ear and handing it over to me. He takes his whiskey, taps my shoulder a bit before heading into the kitchen
I look at the phone for a while before placing it on my ear
"Hello?" I hesitated
"Eric...Hi, how're you?"
Wow, it was actually her. I felt chills pass through my bones, I couldn't explain what hearing her voice did to me
"I'm... I'm good, and you?"
"I'm...fine I guess. How's work?"
I shrug "Going fine as always. Can't believe I'm actually speaking to you again"
She was quiet for a while "me neither...there's no point being enemies, right?"
Her voice was so calm and a bit low, just as lovely as I remember it
"I never wanted to be enemies" my tone matched hers "I never even wanted to ends things...."
"Eric, I didn't...I didn't ask to speak with you to bring back what's been done"
I shrug "but that's the only thing that can ever come up after what happened.... that's the only way to find closure, maybe because I'm really not fine, I honestly can't be fine"
She was quiet for a bit "I'm not sure closure would ever be possible for us....a lot happened, Eric....a lot of things I don't think we can get past"
"Why? Because of my mum?"
"Yes, Eric.... wasn't she the reason we didn't work out? Wasn't she the reason we couldn't be happy?"
"Can't we look past these?"
She sigh "We don't have to be enemies, Eric. I don't hold any grudge against you, that's basically it"
I stay quiet before nodding slightly "sure. I'll hand the phone over to Daniel"
There was obviously nothing left for us to say
