Two Worlds Apart

Chapter 57

I don't know how to explain the air in the room right now. It wasn't tensed, but it wasn't normal either.

Gloria called just to check up on me, but I had to tell her what happened between Eric and I

She was confused at first but since Daniel was already here, I just explained everything to both of them together, I don't think I've ever seen them so upset

Daniel kept tapping his feet on the floor as he leaned forward resting his arms on his legs and lowering his head

Gloria hasn't said anything since I finished the story so right now, I didn't know what to do

"I would never intentionally hurt Eric, you guys know me better than that, but I can't give all of this up...I'm sorry"

"You're sorry? What are you sorry for? Why are you apologizing?" Gloria finally speaks

"For hurting your friend"

Daniel looks up at me "Courtney...you did what you did for your parents, it's just unfortunately that Eric didn't get a better mum"

"Yeah she's literally the cause of this whole thing" Jeff said

"She keeps aiding and supporting that stupid psycho" Sophia added

"And now you both are suffering just because his mother doesn't care about what he wants. I swear to God if for any reason I come across Theresa..."

Daniel cuts in "why can't we tell Eric though, so he'll know and wouldn't be so hurt. Seeing him like this is really something I like"

"Eric won't stay away if I do" I tell him "and if Theresa doesn't still feel comfortable with it, she'll still take my house"

"Are we sure that woman isn't demented?" Sophia asked

"I honestly think she is because this is why too much. She claims to love Eric but see what she's doing to him"

"It's just to help Eric get through this" Daniel said

"I'll try my best to be back tomorrow but if not then the day after"

"Alright G" Daniel said

"I have to go, I'll call Eric but also, Courtney please be okay" Gloria said

I don't see that happening

"I will, thank you"

She hangs up. Immediately after I told them about this, Gloria didn't sound like her normal playful self. I've never heard her this serious

Daniel gets up "I need to leave. I'll call to check up on you later but I have to see how Eric is"

I nod understandingly

"Take care of yourself" he said before leaving

Even he didn't sound so playful anymore

I rest my back on the couch, placing one hand on my head

I'm really not okay

"Are you alright?" Sophia seats beside me

"Yeah I'm fine"

"Are you sure we shouldn't go to the hospital?" Jeff asked and I shake my head

"No hospitals"

"Fine"

I get up "I think I just need to lie down a bit"

"Do you need help?"

I shake my head "I'm good" I manage to walk to my bedroom, shutting the door behind me
