Courtney's POV

"Stay away from my fries" I point a fork at Jeffrey

"Just one" he whines

"Your girlfriend is sitting right there, ask her" I point at Sophia who was next to him

He stared at her fries then back at her, she lets out a sigh before handing it over to him which landed her a kiss on the cheek

"You guys are too cute" I chuckled

"Let's get you a boyfriend" Sophia said out of the blue

Jeff and I turned to look at her

"All of a sudden?" He asked

"Well yeah, I mean she's beautiful, we can't just let all of this go to waste" she gestures to my entire body

"Firstly thank you so much babe" i air kissed her and "secondly the issue of a boyfriend is totally irrelevant" considering the fact that ever guy seems to want a girl who isn't 'struggling to survive'

Statement made by my ex when he dumped me

"It's really not actually, you need someone" Sophia emphasizes

"Correction I don't need anyone" I immediately regretted saying that when they both looked at each other and then back at me with what seemed like hurtful eyes

"No no no, not you guy, I need you guys" I immediately say and they moods lighten almost immediately

"B...But still, you could try" she suggested

The bell rings as a lady walks in through the shop door

"Hello" she walks further in

"Hi, good afternoon" I smile

"Sorry but I was supposed to drop this off at my stylist's place but she's not home and i need this dress urgently. I saw your shop and hoped you'd be available"

"I'm very much available" I assure her

"Alright good" she takes out her phone

"Okay so I need a dress for an event in 2 day and I'd like this"

She hands over the phone and it was a simple jumpsuit, no designs or anything, just a plain red sleeveless jumpsuit

I look up at her

"I really don't have a lot of money so I just need something simple, can you do it?"

I got a shop situated around our side of the town because I couldn't afford the ones where social and high status people lived so of course I'll deal with simple and cheap outfits

No offense to anyone though

"Of course I can" I hand her phone over to her

"Okay great." She hands over her fabric "2 days"

"Sure" and she walked out

I turned around to my friends

"Look at the bright side, at least it's something" Jeffrey tries to lighten the mood

I was happy I got a customer but I just needed something a bit....

No no, what am I saying?

This is good. No matter how much I make, I'll still be able to save up something from it

"Time to get to work"

Eric's POV

"So they want to partner up with us for the hospital project, you'll be having a meeting with them tomorrow by 2pm. Your father will be here in an hour, he asked that we inform you and um....."

"Hold on a minute" I hear voices from outside before my office door comes flying open

"Eric my love"

I let out a huge sigh as Theresa approached me

"Please can we talk?" She places her hand on my shoulder

"I'm really sorry sir, she didn't wait for me to inform you...."

"It's fine Clare, you can go"

She walks out the office and I turn to Matthew

"Please can we finish this later?"

"Of course sir" he gets up and leaves

"How can I help you?" I pack up my documents and push them to the side

"Eric, we haven't spoken for a while now" she makes herself comfortable on my desk

"So?"

"I'm sorry I really am, it's just sometimes I'm a bit temperamental but I swear I'll change, please"

She sounded so whiny, but I could swear there wasn't even a single atom of sincerity in her words.

I push my chair back and stood to my feet, I buttoned my suit and grabbed my phone before saying

"I'm really not mad at you T, you could always call if you want to talk...."

"So we're back together!?" She stood up abruptly

"What? No, no we're not...."

"But Eric I said I was sorry"

"I know...."

"And I promise not to yell at you anymore"

Lies

"Alright but....."

"I really miss you Eric, I miss us"

"Theresa...."

Why does she keep cutting me off!

"Please Eric...."

"I don't love you Theresa" I plainly said

She immediately fell quiet, her hands fell beside her and I couldn't explain the expression on her face

"I thought.....I thought we were passed this phase" she finally spoke

"You always knew I never actual did, you forced that relationship" I pointed

"Because I love you"

"But I don't. I told you not to, but you insisted on making an issue out of it and bringing our families into it, what did you really think was going to happen?"

"You can't do this Eric" i walked past her and went towards the door

"Eric!" She yelled

"Would you stop already?" I turn to her "I'm a victim in all this, I stayed in a 2 years relationship that became more like an obligation. You made your parents threaten me with the partnership our companies were in at the time just so I wouldn't leave you and even after the partnership was over, I still stayed because my mum had your back, even when you kept mistreating everyone around me just because you felt you had the ability to." I stopped and took in a deep breath

"I didn't leave you because you yell for absolutely no reason, I left because you're really not a good person and you don't put other people's feelings into consideration, just yours. Please, I have things I need to attend to, excuse me"
