Eric's POV•
"What about the girl from the restaurant yesterday?"
I looked up at Daniel "What girl?"
He frowns "The girl who kept staring at you from her table and ended up taking your number"
"Oh" I turn back to my files "she wanted us to see again and I told her I wasn't interested"
He straightened himself "why would you do that?"
I shrug "because I wasn't interested"
"That's like the third girl you've turned down so far, Eric c'mon"
I sighed and looked up at him "Daniel I really don't want anything to do with anyone"
"You're still not over Courtney"
"How exactly can I be over her? I wasn't the one who broke up with her so I'm not over her"
He sighs "but you can't keep turning girls down"
"Daniel, I have a company to run, projects to complete, trips to make, a hotel to manage, I don't have time nor do I have the interest in starting a new relationship" with that, I get back to work
He remains silent as he just picks up his phone to use. My office door was suddenly pushed open and my mum walks in
"Eric, have you seen Matthew around?"
I shook my head "no, do you need something?"
She waves it off "it's nothing" then she changes topic "um....did you know Courtney now walks in MFE?"
I dropped my pen "yes, yes I do"
She nods "hmm. Why would Morgan employ someone like that though?"
Daniel turned around to look at her "meaning?"
She looks at Daniel with a raised brow "because MFE is a prestigious fashion company, one which Courtney Jones shouldn't belong in"
"Can you seriously let that girl be?" Daniel sounded annoyed
"Daniel, I don't remember talking to you"
"That's none of my concern, you've ruined that girls life enough, don't you think?"
She folds her arms "if I wanted to do more damage, I would call Morgan and pass on my complete disappointment and probably withdrawal from patronizing from their boutique if she doesn't let her go"
"Go ahead" she turned to me "honestly mum, this is just tasteless and classless of you. Don't you have other things to do other than ruining someone's life?"
"Excuse me?" She said, surprised washed over her face
"You heard me. You and that psycho, Theresa stressed Courtney so much and actually made her move, can you just quit?"
She looked very surprised by my outburst but she immediately composed herself and walked out my office.
I let out a sigh and lean back on my chair, placing a hand on my forehead, my eyes closed
"Try to keep your mum under control, Eric. It makes no sense that every single thing that makes Courtney happy makes her upset, absolutely no sense"
I look at him "don't worry about it, she won't do anything...I can promise you that"
I wasn't able to look after Courtney when she was close, so I'll do so from afar.

Courtney's POV•
Fat? Nah, Chubby? Nope, gaining weight? Yes, yes I was. I stood in front of my dressing mirror, surprise clear on my face......I actually gained weight?
"Oh sweet Jesus" I whispered, holding on to my 'no longer flat' stomach. I didn't have any bump yet, but my stomach was definitely not flat anymore.
I turned around and my butt seemed to be getting bigger
"I don't want to lose shape!" I whined
I could actually burst into tears because of my hormones, but I tired my best to control myself.
I took in a deep breath and walked to my wardrobe, I had to just calm down.... everything will be over soon.
I put on any outfit I picked first and headed out, I had to go to the grocery. I shot my apartment door and turned around to leave when I saw my next door neighbor unlocking her door
"Oh, Hi" she said with a smile when she noticed me
"Hello, good afternoon" I smiled back
"I finally get to meet my next door neighbor. You've been here almost a month, if not up to and I've never seen you"
I chuckled "I'm just always indoors or at work, so I barely walk about"
She nods "I can tell, and you're also very quiet. My former neighbor was a music beast....I thank God for the change" she lets out a sigh with her hand on her chest
I chuckled "I really don't do much, and I barely have any visitors"
She hums then stretches her hand towards me
"I'm Justina, very nice to meet you"
I shake her "I'm Courtney, and the pleasure is mine"
She smiles "on your way out?"
"Um yeah, I'm heading to the grocery"
"Mind if I accompany you? I don't really have anything doing"
A smile forms on my face
"not at all"
