Chapter 55

"Please Courtney I'm begging you" Sophia said, crouching down beside me while I was seated in the living room couch with my back on the arm rest and my legs folded up in front of me

"Courtney" I stay silent as my phone stops ringing then starts ringing again

Eric has given me over 9 missed calls in the last 5 mins

Today was the day I've been so excited about, MFE's fashion show, but I couldn't even watch it. I was starting in 4 hours but my mind was not in the right place for it

Since last night, Eric's been trying to talk to me but I kept ignoring his calls. Sophia picked up last night and told him I was asleep and now he continued this morning

She tried to pick up the call but I didn't let her and now she's been begging for me to talk to him

"Sophia you can't understand" I managed to say, my voice was gone already from all the crying last night

"No I do understand, I do. That's like someone threatening me to leave Jeff after everything we've been through, so I get how you're feeling but Courtney you can't keep ignoring him, he'll think he did something. You've made up your mind on what to do so please you need to talk to him, not even on the phone but I person"

I sit still in my position before looking at her

"Please, for your mental health"

My phone starts ringing again and I slowly pick it up before answering the call

"Hello" I could hear the anxiousness in Eric's voice

"Hi" I clear my throat

"Courtney what happened? I've been trying to talk to you but it seems like you didn't want to talk to me. Are you mad at me or something?"

I open my mouth to speak but I suddenly feel this wave of sadness that makes me close my mouth

I close my eyes really tight and just took in a deep breath before saying "can we talk... please?"

"Sure of course, are you coming over to the office or..."

I cut in "I'll come over"

"Alright then"

"See you then" I hang up before he could say anything else

"Courtney you should have asked him to come over, you're not strong enough to leave"

I stand up "I'm alright, I just...I just need some air"

I make my way to Martinez Constructions and I walk into the building without hesitation

I first of all walk up to that rude receptionist

"Good morning, can I see Eric Martinez please?" I was so pale, my voice was more or less gone and my eyes were all swollen but I had managed to fix it before coming

"Um yeah I guess, you're his girlfriend after all" she rolls her eyes

I simply ignore her and walk away and up the stairs

I made it to his office door but I was finding it very difficult to knock

"Courtney come on" I whisper to myself

"You can do this" I take in a deep breath and I knock
