And off we were to "clean some rooms". "Wanna go take a walk, or are you tired?", Petra asked. "Not at all. Let's go." Her and I went outside, we left the court through a big gate, where there was a pathway leading over a meadow and into the forest.
"No need to go in there, right?" I asked, chuckling. "No, I lost my fear of titans after all these years but dark forest are still a no go. We can just walk around the building." I looked around as we passed the part of the quarters where the dorms were. There was someone at a window, watching me and Petra, it was hard to tell in the dark, but I think it was the corporal.
"Why's he looking like he hates everyone all the time?", I asked. I'd seen that look on people's faces all the time. Back at the anchor, many people had this empty, closed off look. But there was something else. Something I could only identify as utter distrust.
"I think he's just wary of you. You appeared out of nowhere with a perfect understanding of the 3dmg eventho you had no training with it." "That does sound suspicious when you say it like that.", I replied. It made total sense that he was probably just trying to keep his troop safe and wouldn't want a total stranger here when he wasn't sure if they were on his side or not.
"It takes a long time to own his trust.", she explained. "But he'll come around eventually... Anyways, we are training together tomorrow, right? I wanna see if you're really as good as they say.", she said with a slight smile. "Sounds great. Gotta find out if this elite troop is really as elite too." She chuckled slightly. "Trust me, we are, you'll see."
By the time we arrived back at the headquarters, Hanji was still in the cantine, talking with Eren. Tho it was more her talking and Eren listening. For a second I thought about going in and saving the poor boy but the risk of getting stuck there was too high. So I just left him with his fate and decided to go to bed.

The next day, after breakfast, I was on my to the training ground when I walked past Erwins office. I really didn't want to eavesdrop, but I stoped when hearing my name. "I really don't trust her." Was that corporal Levi? Erwin sighed before replying: "We can use every good soldier we can get, Levi, after what happened there in Trost, I don't think, many cadets will still be willing to join us. We don't have the luxury to turn someone down, especially someone with such talent. Also, Pixis trusts her and so does Hanji."
"Oh yeah sure, a guy who's drunk 80% of the time and that crazy titan obsessed four eye, what could possibly go wrong with their judgement? All I am saying is that it is suspicious that she managed to handle the 3dmg so well without any training before." "I remember people telling me the same about you when you and your friends joined the survey corps.", Erwin replied.
"And I was here to kill you, remember? Not exactly a good example to her defence. Erwin come on, you can't be that naive." I could hear another deep sigh from Erwin. "Levi please, what do you want me to do?" "Sent her back to where ever she came from, or put someone on her watch that can actually tell a leg apart from an arm."
"You know the most skilled people we have is your troop, and you are already watching Eren, I wouldn't give you the responsibility for two potentially dangerous people. Tho she seems to be getting along great with Miss Ral..." There was silence for a bit. "Would you have any objections to pairing them up? At least until the next missions and after that we'll talk again. Please, Levi, I have things to do."
"Fine, but I will kill her if she starts posing a threat." "No one is getting killed Levi, we talked about this." I saw someone walk down the corridor towards me and I did not want to be caught standing around in front of Erwin's office so I hurried to get to my meeting with Petra.
She already saw me from afar as Ieft the building and waved at me. "Hey, ready?", she asked. "eady when you are.", I replied and she took off towards the forest. Not even bothering to look if I was following or not. But of course, I was right behind her within seconds, spotting the first wooden titan and flying towards it.
Petra showed me a many of the tactics they used for fighting titans without getting themselves into danger. She was definetly better than me, not a question, but I think for someone who just learned how to use this stuff, I wasn't doing too bad.
By the time we were supposed to go to lunch. Petra and I were back in front of the building, now just chatting and laughing at something stupid. It had been a long time since I had this type of easy understanding with someone, especially in surroundings like these. I really looked forward to being teamed up with her and the others.
Hey everyone, I got a genuine question. Why does everyone hate Petra? I remember hating her too when watching the anime for the first time but I can't remember why and now that I'm rewatching it, I think shes actually a pretty cool character. Like, did I overlook something this time or is she just always the bad guy in the fanfics? Please someone tell me, I'm so confused rn.
See ya next chapter <3
