After I died

The person came runnig towards me while I was slowly sitting up. It really was Levi. "Thank god, you're alive. They said you didn't make it." I was completely startled when he pulled me close, slowly lifting my arms, to return the hug. We just sat there in silence for a bit,  I was too overwhelmed by everything that had happened with me being stuck in this titan, falling in and out of conciousness and having barely any memory of what happened.

Feeling the tear stain on my shoulder pulled me back to reality, it was tiny but there. "You promised not to die." "And I didn't.", I replied. Levi had pulled back and was looking at me again. "Yeah, but that was a damn close call. How the hell did you get in there?" I blinked a few times and looked at the evaporating titan below us. "Before Berthold transformed, I used a thunderspeer to blow a whole into his side and hide in there, but he regenrated faster than I could get back out so I guess I just got stuck."

He looked at me with something between shock and confusion. "Wouldn't it have crushed you?" "No, I got into his mind, used that plan I told you about. I don't remember much between now and when I blew the whole into his side, but I think I was talking to him. I....he had me attached to his nervous system, I could hear his thoughts and look through his memory..." I closed my eyes trying to remember what was in his memory that was so important.

"Hey, stop thinking so hard. Come on, look at me again.", he mumbled, brushing some hair from my face. I sighed and opened my eyes again, accepting that I couldn't remember. "Thanks, now let's get back to the others. Are you hurt anywhere?" "No, not much. I think I burned my throat a bit and my muscles still feel a bit weak from being stuck in there for so long."

Levi nodded along to my reply and carefuly cut my feet out of the titan before picking me up and taking off to fly back to the others. When we reached them on the wall, Hanji was the first to notice us."You're alive.", she called out, hugging me tight as soon as Levi sat me down. "God, don't scare me like this ever again." The others had also noticed us after hanji had yelled so loud and also came over for a big group hug. "Where is everyone else?", I then asked. "The ten of us are  the only ones that survived." "From the whole survey corps?!" They all nodded.

Their big joy over my survival seemed more reasonable now. They were just glad for every person that made it out because so many didn't. "What are we gonna do now?", Jean asked, looking over at Hanji. She was the new commander now, after all. "Levi and I wil go to the basement with Eren and Mikasa. The others stay here and keep an eye on the surroundings.", Hanji ordered. Levi looked over at me. "How are your muscles doing?", he asked. "Good, I can feel my legs again, so I think the blood has flown back into my limbs." "Then you're coming too. I won't let you out of my sight after this." Hanji nodded at Levi's comment, seemingly agreeing to the plan. I refilled my gas and then went over to the others.

Eren's house was destroyed by a huge rock that had fallen on it, but we managed to get to the basement anyway where Eren pulled out the key. Just... it didn't work. He kept trying to open the door but the key didn't fit the lock. In the end, it was Levi who kicked the door open. Sometimes violence was indeed the answer.

The basement seemed like a regular study room, a bunch of bookadnmedicie laying around, until Mikasa called us over. She had found a key hole in the side of the desk. This time, the key fit perfectly into it. Inside were three books and cloths that were meant to keep them safe from water and insects. When opening one of the books, there was a picture inside. "This is too detailed to be a painting.", Hanji mumbled, looking at it. "It's a photograph.", I said. "You guys don't have technology like this here, do you?" They shook their heads. "What is a photograph?" "Hard to explain, but since it doesn't exist on here, it means that Grisha was, like Annie, Reiner an Berthold from outside the walls."

Eren, didn't blink for at least a minute. Hanji read the back of the paper. It confimred that it was a photograph. "I come from outside of the walls, where humans live a good life. They didn't go extinct. I hope that the first person to find this book, has the same intentions as me.", Hanji read out. "Let's first get back to Karanes and look at these in peace.", Levi said. It seemed logical, we didn't have any food left and almost all the horses were gone so we should really look at getting back to the head quarters first.

When reaching the wall, the others had already gathered all the stuff and the last remaining horses so we could start our way back to wall Rose. Upon our arrival, people were cheering loudly the joy over regaining wall Maria seemed to overshadow the fact that only ten people had returned. I still wasn't sure if we could use the term 'success' for this mission.

First thing Levi and I did the day after coming back was going to the orphanage to visit Maggie. She had seen us from her window and came running over the meadow before we had even reached the fence to the orphanage garden. "You're back.", she called out as I leaned down and hugged her tightly, while Levi just patted her head. "Of course we are. Wouldn't dare to leave you here." "Can I come with you now?", Maggie asked with those big innocent eyes. Was she asking us to adopt her? "Not yet.", I said with a sigh.

"Our fight is still not over, sadly. But I promise you, when all of this is over you can come with us." I looked up at Levi. "Right?" He smiled slightly. "Right." "But you really have to promise.", Maggie said. "Pinky promise.", I replied, holding up my pinky finger. She hooked her little one with mine before smiling brightly. "You have to tell me all about the trip too." "When you're older.", Levi replied. "How old?" "At least 50." "That's so unfair!"

And I'm suddenly so in the mood for writing again. I dunno what happened but thet few days was kinda meh and now I finished 4 chapters since noon, which is kinda much for my standars. Anyways, guess I just had some episodes with a lot of content today. Hopeyou guys still enjoy this and I would like to see some english comments just to know where my story is being read.
