Some months had passed and it was April now. Tho it was weirdly cold eventho spring was on the way, we'd been training the past months and the new squad had started perfecting all the strategies. I, for my partwasgetting better at watching out for my teammates instead of acting on my own like I had been used to before coming here. I managed to adjust my fighting style so much, that Levimade me second in command, I remember Eld used to have that position. I often stayed after training, helping Levi with tidyig up and wealways endedup talking about whatever thing, mostly related to work tho. But still, I think he was slowly starting to warm up.
It was quite cold this week, Hanji got all her experiments inside because as she said that "the cold was changing her results", but I couldn't blame her, the temperatures were really uncomfortably. We had just finished warming up, when the first little cough escaped me. I wasused to wearing warm tactical gear when on missions in cold reagions, not some thin pants, a shirt and a coat. The cold aoir was starting to scratch at my lungs, but a little cough never killed anyone, so what could possibly go wrong?
"You will be practicing number 1, 6 and 8 today, tho there will be no afternoon training today, don't want any of you to get even more annoying by catching a cold or flu.", Levi explained, letting allof us fly off. I was paired up with Mikasa today. When she saw the first titan, she called out to me: "6, I'll distract." But after this maneuver, I noticed my cut not having been as clean as usual. My head was feeling a bit tight too. A few hour later, I noticed my breath shortening with each second. "Short break.", I called out to Mikasa as I stopped on a tree branch.
When I got to a halt on the tree, I had to cough so hard I almost threw up, this almot made me loose my ballance and I fell forward. my vision was starting to blurr, but I managed to catch myself with the 3dmg, now hanging from the tree. "Ana!", Mikasa was next to me within seconds. Her yelling must've also alarmed Levi since he arived short later. "What happened?", he asked, but Mikasa just shrugged.
"Ana, do you hear me?" "Loud and clear.", I mumbled, rubbing my pounding head before coughing again. "It's the eyes. Everything's blurry." He sighed. "What did I say about catching colds?" "Sorry.", I replied with a sligth chuckle, that turned into a cough quickly. "Alright, Mikasa, you tell everyone they can go to lunch. I'll bring Ana to Hanji." After Mikase left, Levi turned back to me, suupporting my weight with his arm. "Detach the 3dmg, I got you."
Hanji jumped up in shock as Levi opened the door to her office. "Here four eyes, sick person. Do something about it.", he ordered. "You could at least say that a bit nicer.", Hanji complained, but then looked over at me, I was only still standing because Levi was holding my arm over his shoulders. "Alrgiht, put her on the sofa, I'll fix this." Levi and I walked over to the sofa as he slowly loweredmy down on it. "Thanks.", I mumbled, but he just huffed dismissively.
"You can go to lunch now, I'll handle this.", Hanji said confidently. "Just call meover if she needs anything." "Sure sure.", she replied, waving Levi off so he left. "Alright, wanna tell me what happened?" I blinked a few times to be able to keep my eyes open, the warm sofa was nice. "Well, I had some shortness of breathe and was feeling light headed so I stopped on a tree. There, I had a coughing attack which threw me off balance and I fell down. Mikasa alarmed Levi and now I'm here."
Hanji nodded, a bit while feeling my forhead. "A little warmer than it should be...but what I'm really interested in... is you ad Levi.", she chuckled. "What about it?", I asked, looking at Hanji who was making a weird facial expression while still chuckling and giggeling. "You don't get it?", she then asked. "Not at all." "You're really dense when it comes to feelings, you know that?" But Hanji didn't care to explain any of what she'd mentioned, so I let it slide.
She didn't let me leave my bed for three days straight, bringing me soup all the time and sending Levi constantly to make tea. I didn't really know how he found the time to make somuch tea, but between head aches, fever dreams and coughing my lungs out, I didn't really care either. It took a week until hanji even allowed me out oiof our room again and three more days untilshe deemed me "ready to get back to training".
The coldhad finally passed for good while I was sick and the sun was starting to shine more often. Training went pretty well and we'd leave for some seperate cottage soon, to test on Eren's titan powers. The others were pretty excited the mornign I showed up for breakfast the first time. "How are you feeling? was it very bad?", Sasha asked the second I sat down. "I'm feeling good, thanks. Did I miss much?"
"Well, yesterday Jean and Eren did a fist fight, that was funny.", Connie explained. "Who won?" "Neither.", Sasha said laughing. "They both ended up in the dirt and captain Levi had to pick them apart." Jean and Eren looked like they just wanted to disappear. so everything was as always.
