Anastasia
"Full name?" "Anastasia Natalia Srijokowitsc." "Can you spell that out for me?" "S-r-i-jo-k-o-w-i-t-s-c." Hanji scribbled my name down into the box reserved for it on the file. "Age and birthday?" "18th September, 31." "So 18th September of the year... 428?" "Uhm... yes."
I had no idea which yearit was in this world, but my birthday hadn't been yet this year. so it must be 450, according to their calculation. "Any qualifications? Specific skills you are trained in?"
"Combat, fighting with all sorts of weapons, basic medicine, analysing and counering field tactics." "What job did you say you had in Trost?", Hanji asked, looking up from the form. "Waitress." She blinked a few times. "Where did you get this skillset from?"
"It's a long story, can I tell you al of this later?", I asked and Hanji started scribbling again. "I will just write 'family background' as a reasoning for your skills, yeah?" "Sure, that is quite acurrate, to be honest."
"Any family members?" "No." "Alright, we will continue with the medical data later, after the test." The brown haired woman closed the file and put it into a cupboard. There were dozens of other files. I turned and saw an even bigger cupboard.
"What are those?", I asked, looking at the files in the big shelf. "Those are the deceased.", Hanji explained. "I see.", I mumbled. "People are usually more disturbed when seeing how many soldiers we've lost, in the past two years alone."
The past....two years?! All those files, it must be atleast twice as many people as I've killed in my whole time with the anchor. I did not let Hanji notice my surprise but upuntil now I hadn't realised the high mortality rate of this... "job".
"I believe it would be for the best if we just go down now. Levi and Erwin should be here soon. So, let's get you into a 3dmg.", Hanji opened the door, waiting forme to go through. I followed her down to a stall where they had dozen of these things that we had used to fly around.
Hanji took her time explainign the whole thing, how to wear it, how to use it. It seemed way more thought throught when she said it than the terrified girl in Trost. But I believe Hanji must be more experienced with these things and she wasn't scared for her life right now, so it made sense that hearing the explanation from her was more logical.
"Now, you wanna try it before the others arrive? We could fly a round through the forest." "Sounds good to me, let's go." Hanji took off first and I flew behind her. "We have these training puppets here. You gotta cut the neck, as deepas possible.", Hanji yelled towards me.
She flew towards the first wooden titan puppet, slicing it's next as she flew past it. I mimicked her, using both sword to cut out a chunk from the titans neck. "Like this?", I yelled and just laughed, showing my a thumbs up.
We did this a few times, before landing back on the field in front of the forest, where Erwin and Levi were standing now. Erwin smiled and greeted us, he then turned to Hanji and asked: "How did she do so far?"
"She's quick, agile and gets pretty deep cuts. I'd say she definitely pased the test with the 3dmg, unless you want to go see that for yourself." "No need, I totally trust your judgement, Hanji.", Erwin replied with a slight wave of his hand.
"What else do we have then?", Hanji asked. "Well, the new recruits had to pass the 3dmg test, a combat test and an exam.", Erwin said. "We can do combat today but I believe doing the exam would be unfair."
He looked over at me. "You seem to know enough about titans to be able to kill one, so the exam is unnecessary. The new recruits will recieve further lessons anyway, you can just join them then. Now...combat" Erwin's eyes turned to Levi, who sighed but eventually sretched his arms and got ready, but Hanji chimed in.
"Hey, now that's not fair. All the cadets had to just fight other cadets and we put Ana up against him?! Now that's just unfair. I'll do it, I'll fight her. Volunteer." Levi raised and eyebrow but shurgged. "I don't really care.", he mumbled.
"Indeed, it does seem kind of unfair. Fine." Hanji started bouncing up and down again, as she went over to stand across from me. "Now, don't go easy on me, yeah?", Hanji said happily. "No worries.",I replied, lifting my fists as I got ready to fight.
Hanji was a briliant woman, but I doubt she takes this seriously. She took a few steps towards me, her fist rushing at my face. So I put my weight on my right food, leaned out of the target zone of her fist, grabbed it and pulled her past me and over my extended leg so she fell foreward.
But Hanji caught herself pretty quick as she lunged at me again, she was for sure not stupid and had very good endurance, but Hanji lacked a proper strategy.which wasn't necessary lookign at the fact that she probably usually fought titans or inexperienced people, but against someone with decades of combat training, she wouldn't stand a chance.
If she kept attacking me, she would always have the lower hand in the situation because the attacker always has the more vulnerable position when attacking right from the front. I dodged her hit and kicked her side with my knee, enought to hurt a bit but not to cause damage or severe pain. she stumbled a bit, holding the side that I had hit.
"You okay?", I asked. "I can do this all day, don't worry." Hanji grinned as she got back to stadning upright. "Okay, I believe we still need scientist today, so we probably saw enough. No need for anyone getting seriously hurt. I will talk to you tomorrow about the decision, until then Hanji probably needs helpwith her projects. Have a nice day.", Erwin explained calmly before turnign to leave.
But before walking away he looked at the man next to him. "Levi, is there something you wanna say?", he asked. Levi just looked at me through narrowed eyes, like he was inspecting something with utter distrust. "I'll be in your office later.", he repliedto Erwin's question before just walking past me and Hanji.
"You didn't do anything wrong. He's always like that." I simply nodded at the information provided by Hanji and went over to help her back inside.
Hey everyone. I just wanted to ask for the general mood, how y'all are doing and if you're enjoying the story so far. I'm bak on here after a very long break. 3 years I believe, if not more, but it feels very nice to write for an audience again.
