Historia spent the first few months of her reign getting all the peope in need somewhere where they could be helped. Especiallygiving children a home that had nowhere to go adn families that lost everything due to the titan attacks. She also wanted to give the children from the underground a chance which as why she'd asked Levi for help. They were going down with a few people from the senate and some from the survey corps to pick up the first few children. Around 40, I believe, not nearly everyone but it was going step by step.
I had agreed to helping out with the children when Levi asked me. My job would be to fill in files, take names, ages and basic physical information, and bring those who needed immediat medical attention to Hanji, who was supervising the nursing team. We left the head quarters early in the morning for the first bigger pick-up of children. The main focus there was, like up on the surface, on orphans and children with sicknesses that couldn't be cured down there. Simultaneously, a senate was also working on a way raise the living quality in the underground because there wasn't enough room to bring everyone up at once.
I was standing next to Levi as the elevator opened and we could see the underground city. It did seem to be in a pretty bad condition, thick air, stone houses, only artificial light... I glanced over at Levi slightly. So this is where he grew up. Hanji was the first to step out, followed by Levi. He would be leading the teams that found the children and brought them to us. They left as Hanji ordered the nurses to start setting up their little medical stations and then handed me a clipboard, a pen and bunch of blanc files.
It took a few minutes for the first children to arrive. Eren and Armin had been the ones coming back with each a little boy holding their hand. "Thank you, I'll take them from here.", I said as they reached me. "All yours.", Eren chuckled before him and Armin left again. "Now, what's your names?", I asked, squatting down to the two boys, they were probably 6 and 8 years old. "I'm Elias.", the blonde boy said. "That's Nils." he pointed at the other one next to him. I noted their names and basic appearance like hair color, eye color, height and special features lie birthmarks. When being asked, they also told me their age and birthdates.
"Now, are you two healthy or is there somethig we can help you with?" The younger one of the boys seemed to have a fever and a cough, could be nothing but I didn't want to take any risk. i held out my hand and the boy took it as we started walking over to Hanji. "You see this nice lady over there?" He nodded. "That's Hanji, if you liste to what she says, she can figure out how to help you in no time, yeah?" I gave the boy into Hanji's care and went back to the next children that had arrived. It took quite some time to register all of them, but after about 2 hours, we were just waiting for the last child.
Levi was the only person still missing, so I'd figured he'd bring them. And I was right, just when finishing my thought process, I saw him form afar, carrying a little girl, maybe 4 years old. "Her name's Margarete.", he said, when reaching me. The little girl had a few tears on her cheeks, probably due to the scraped and slightly bleeding knee. The little girl looked over at me when I spoke to her. "Hey, Margarete, I'm Ana. Can you tell me how you hurt your knee?" "I fell.", she said voice a little shaky from crying.
"Oh, I am very sorry, want me to blow a bit?" She nodded slightly so blew some coldn air over her knee. "See already better, right?" "Yes.", the little girl smiled slightly. "Can you tell me your age?" "I'm four." I filled in her file before looking at Levi. "Erwin wants to see you, I'll take her from here." He nodded adn squeezed my hand before walking over to where Erwin was standing. I secured the little girl gently on my hip bone before walking over to Hanji. "This is the last one. She seems healthy but her knee is bleeding." Hanji quickly, cleaned the wound and bandagged it so we could go back up just a few moments later.
We brought all the kids that didn't need to go to a hospital, which were around 35, to Historia's orphanage, who thanked us all thoroughly for our help. After that, I made sure to visit little Margarete in the orphanage, first to check up on her knee and then because she made me promise to come back everytime I left to get back to the headquarters. levi came along around half the times two,he didn't really say or do much but always listened intentionally when Maggie told him about her day and the other children.
We'd just come back from one of these visits when Hanji came by and took me and Levi to Erwin's office with her to show us what she'd designed to kill titans by the wall. It was a huge tree trunk that they would let fall down onto the necks of the titans after luring them close to the wall. "I'm just not sure if we can find a trunk that's heavy enough for that." "I'm sure you'll find one. Bones break at 10 Kilo Newton per squaremeter. If you let it fall for 35 meters it has a speed of 2×g×h... around 25m/s. Stopping that on around 1 meter would mean sqare of 25 divided by 2×1. Half of 625 is 312,5. So about 300m per square-second. So we'd need 33,3 kg per m². Letsvsay a radius of 1 Meter is 3,14 m² makes 99,9 kg. So take 100."
Hanji stared at me. "What did you just..." "Physics. I'm not 100% sure, didn't do that in quite some time...." "So 100 kilograms you said?", Hanji confirmed, writing it down in her little drawings of the machine. "150 if you want to be sure because we didn't regarding air resistence right now but you said their bones are hollow so 100 should be enough."
