"I will announce Chin as the new Empress of this empire." Zhang Wei spoke. "Baolin, what are your thoughts about this?"

Kasalukuyan siyang nakaupo sa trono na mayroon siya sa loob ng sikretong lugar ng palasyo habang kasama sina Qingyuan at Baolin.

Isang hindi makapaniwalang tingin naman ang naibigay sa kanya ni Qingyuan. Ngunit hindi napansin ng Emperor iyon dahil nakatuon ang pansin nito sa Chief Adviser niya.

Napahawak ng bigote si Baolin at napaisip mula sa kinatatayuan.

"Her highness, Consort Chin, is a virtuous and intelligent lady. But if I'll be truthful, her highness still lacks certain qualities that are needed to become your next Empress, your majesty."

Zhang Wei's silver eyes turned to his adviser.

"Certain qualities?" he repeated.

"She came from a foreign land and has no political support within Qin." Baolin answered. "If your majesty may announce her enthronement as the new Empress, I'm afraid that the two factions will disagree with the idea. One of the two factions must give their support and loyalty to Her Highness in order to gain control over the court."

Zhang Wei's eyes became serious after hearing those words from his adviser. He had already concluded all of the possible scenarios that could happen, and his adviser had only put it into words.

He must gain the support of one of the factions for his beloved Consort. That is the only way that he can enthrone her without any conflict with the ministers.

"Very well, Jiangli is a loyal subject of Qin and he will certainly not allow a foreign lady to become the next Empress. I can't use such a man in support of my plans. But unlike him, Feng's immeasurable greed might be of good use in times like this." He spoke, then turned to his soldier. "Qingyuan, I heard that he has a daughter in their household."

"Feng's greed will not suffice until one of his daughters enters the palace, your majesty." This time, Qingyuan answered. "The mole that I've planted into their household reported that he's preparing his second daughter to enter the palace as your new consort."

Napasandal nalang si Zhang Wei sa kinauupuan at napaisip ng malalim.

"Feng is an unloyal subject to me," he said. "In order to cut off his fangs, I must use his own schemes against him."

"What are you planning to do, your majesty?" Qingyuan asked.

A satisfied smirk slowly drew up onto Zhang Wei's face.

"I'm willing to make a bargain with him," he announced. "I will make his daughter an Imperial Noble Consort, but in exchange, his loyalty and support must be bestowed upon my new Empress."

Hindi naman mapigilang mapangiti din si Baolin mula sa kinatatayuan.

"That is an excellent plan, your majesty." Baolin answered. "But I'm afraid that this plan may become a double-edged sword. He will only use this chance to plot against you and her highness in the future."

Zhang Wei's silver eyes turned to him.

"Baolin," he spoke. "Everything inside this palace is a double-edged sword. To tame an enemy, you must be willing to take a risk. I can fully grasp him in his neck without drawing his attention by making his daughter one of the Imperial Noble Consorts. One must remember who is the real master of this land."

Baolin and Qingyuan could not think of a word to speak to their master. They both knew that the Emperor's mind was a mystery. They can only bow down and wait for all of his plans to succeed.
