"May I know the reason for this meeting, your highness?" General Jiangli asked the Emperor's concubine upon meeting her in a secret place in the palace.

"General Jiangli," Jia spoke. "I know that you're the head of the East faction, and for that, there is something I would like to propose to you."

Napataas naman ng mukha ang General lalo pa na't hindi niya inaasahan ang bagay na sasabihin ng Consort. Matapos siyang makatanggap ng liham ng pasikretong pakikipagkita dito ay kinutuban siya na maaring may masamang plano ang Consort sa Emperor. Iyon ang naging dahilan para makipagkita siya dito.

Pero iba ata ang pakay nito.

"I know that you've been dying to end the decades of rule of the West faction and the Empress' clan. I've found evidence of their corruption within the court and from the other states. " She added. "If you wish for my help to overthrow them, I would likely be inclined. It is to help ease the suffering of the people and to lessen the burden of his majesty, Emperor Zhang Wei."

Nagtataka namang napatingin sa kanya ang General.

"You are from a former enemy land," General Jiangli said, with confusion. "Why would you help us?"

Yumuko naman si Jia bago nagsalita.

My heart is crying for the people of Qin, and I've grown fond of the Emperor, so it hurts me to see him suffer in the clutches of his corrupt officials," she said. Kahit na hindi parin kumbinsido ay tinignan parin siya ng General bago nagsalita.

"So tell me, what is your plan?" Jiangli spoke.

Napalingon naman sa ibang direksyon si Jia.

"The only reason that the west faction stayed in power is because they had the Empress on their side," she answered and then turned to him.

But what she said next widened his eyes in shock.

"In order to have peace within Qin, we must dethrone the Empress and place me, the ally of the East faction, in her seat," she announced. "This is the only way we can stop the endless corruption of the West Faction."

Wala parin akong gana habang kumakain sa harapan ni Zhang Wei noong umagang iyon. Dahil din sa sakit na nararamdaman ko ay nakalimutan kong ayain kumain kasama namin si Jia.

Kung naka-ilang buntong-hininga na ako habang kumakain ay hindi ko na mabilang. Samantalang tahimik lang na nakamasid sa akin si Zhang Wei na nasa tabi ko.

Mukhang hinihintay nalang niya na magsabi ako ng problema sa kanya. Pero ano ba ang sasabihin ko sa kanya? Paano ko sasabihin na nagkagulo kami ng Empress ng dahil sa kanya?

Ang haba ng hair ah. Anong shampoo ang gamit mo, Zhang Wei?

"Chin," he finally gave up. "Tell me what's on your mind."

Nagtaas naman ako ng tingin at walang gana paring napatitig sa gwapo niyang mukha.

Kasalukuyan kaming kumakain ng breakfast sa grand garden ngayon katulad ng ilang nagdaang araw.
