"I hope you didn't have to go through a lot of trouble during your journey. The border procedures must have been difficult because of those heinous soldiers guarding the outskirts of Daegu, wasn't it?" the pale man walking ahead of us speaks as we approach the house we are going to stay in for a while from now on.

"Nah" the raven-haired beside me gives him a cheeky smile before looking at me, flashing a sneaky smirk. And a rather forced smile curves my lips with much fake-ness at the memories of what I had to endure a while ago.

After the encounters with those thugs and our horse giving up on our journey, we nearly had to run because of the freezing temperature. And the soldiers guarding Daegu weren't the ones you must ever go against and be on their wrong side. It was difficult to even make them believe that the letter Seokjin had given was the real one and not forgery because there wasn't a mayor's seal but a businessman's seal.

And Jungkook being himself, raised his voice and made it difficult for us to cross the borders without getting mean glares from them. It really had been a long night for us to be calm and cooperative and the side-eyes, mean words, interrogation made the both of our minds fill with nothing but hatred towards this city to a point where the temper-filled male challenged duel with a soldier.

I had to pull him by his ear and scold him like a kid to get right back to his senses. And after what seemed like eons of lectures about mannerisms, being polite to those soldiers, and about cooperation, the kid-man finally agreed to shut his mouth and listen to my words like a baby.

"Yeah, except for the fact that we walked half way to our destination being sleep deprived, we didn't face any other problems" the sarcasm rolls off my tongue as smooth as butter, a smirk curving my lips upwards. It has been a while since I spoke back to someone.

The steps of the man ahead of us comes to halt and he turns around to face us as he pokes his cheeks with his tongue, seeming not pleased by my answer.

An exasperated sigh makes its way out of his lips as he shakes his head with a hint of smile on those pink lips, deciding to go against his sarcastic nature and continues walking forward, showing us the way to the entry.

If it hadn't been for his generous help to keep our identity low-key from the citizens, I'd have snapped back with a more sarcastic answer to this stupid man. Stopping on his tracks to check on us, he nods his head indicating for us to walk fast despite our restless journey.

For a brief moment our eyes lock and a wave of electricity passes throughout my body and I blink for a few times to come back normal.

The more I watch him and his actions, there seems a sense of familiarity when I see the brown-eyed, pale and skinny male who seems no more aged than me. A feeling of seeing my friend, as if I've known him for a long time except this is the first time meeting him.

Why do I have to feel weird about this man already? Can he be trusted? Familiarity doesn't mean he has good intentions right?

It's difficult to trust even a layman when we're walking on thin ice.

"That was so hot" whispers Jungkook in my ear, moistening his dry lips with his tongue as his right hand snakes it's way to the small of my back and pulls me closer to him.

"Shut up stupid" I fire back with my narrowed eyes as he just laughs it off.

"This is your new place for the time being" the pale-skinned man speaks in a deep, uninterested voice as he opens the lock to let us enter this small space where we're going to lead a life for a few weeks.

"I hope you don't break these thin walls and cause a mess in here" his eyes dart back to mine. "There are basic necessities in the other room and you might want to buy your own food supplies to feed yourselves" he finishes with a dark look that warns us to not mess with his words.
