"I don't want to go to the dojo today." The raven-haired kid told his companion as he walked with his arms raised and both hands behind his neck.
"You will never beat me if you keep missing classes, Ed." The blonde one responded with a popsicle in his mouth. He suddenly stopped his steps and elbowed the other. "She's in trouble."
"I know that backpack."
Feet away, they could see three older boys confronting a girl, but she seemed unfazed.
"I got detention for a week thanks to you!" The one who was closer to her was loudly screaming.
"I hope you learn your lesson. Out of my way, bully."
"Or what?"
"You're the one who needs a lesson to learn how to respect us." One of the other boys said while crunching his knuckles.
She rolled her eyes with a sigh at their arrogancy. The boy was focused on her face that he didn't notice the kick that landed between his legs. The pain traveled his body making his legs flex a bit, his hands hold his pants and his eyes watered. The next punch was directly placed at his nose sending him to the ground on his back crying.
"Who do you think you are, little..." The other one who was about to approach her was shut up by a flying kick, the owner landed on top of him crouching over his chest.
The latest one didn't even have time to react and was also knocked out by an uppercut.
She flinched by the sudden apparition of the two other boys.
"Nice punch." The blonde stood from the unconscious boy.
"Neat flying kick."
"I'm here too, you know?"
At his voice, y/n turned over at him and kindly smile making him a blushing mess, looking to the ground so none of them notice. "You always appear at the right time, Keisuke."
"I'm Mikey!" He set himself before his friend, blocking her sight from Baji. "Nice to meet you." He closed his eyes with the wide smile he offered.
They were at elementary school and became close friends as time passed by.
"When I get smarter... will you like me?" Baji asked with a nervous and trembling voice, but his eyes were fixed at the notebook with math problems in front of him, trying to remember what y/n just had explained to him.
"Kei, I already like you, don't be silly." She was patiently waiting for him to answer the homework after long sessions of tutoring him so he can pass the year. "Since we met you've been really nice and got my back when I get in trouble with the bullies at school."
Baji was touched by her words and felt motivated to finish his homework in a rush. Mikey, who was lying beside the table, with the fan directly at him, was looking at the ceiling with his hands on the back of his head just listening.
"I'm already smart." He spat to tease his friend.
"Shut up, midget!" Baji threw a pillow at him in rage.
"Kei, pay attention! You're doing it wrong. Let's start again."
"At this pace, I will never get to marry you." He had to face the table covering his head with his arms, embarrassed.
"Who left the door unlocked?" A mysterious voice asked when the entrance opened. A big, muscular man made his way to the living room where the children were, carrying bags of groceries. He never took off his severe gaze from both of the boys. He seemed to puff his chest making him look even bigger, his arms and neck were covered in tattoos. He crossed his arms above his chest, arched his eyebrow, and snorted still waiting for an answer.
