✱Months Before✱

Chifuyu had been making circles around the kitchen isle for minutes after receiving a message, his companion who was making the dinner could only snicker between teeth watching him all flustered not knowing how to answer it.

"Just be honest, tell her you're available, is not a big deal."

"Baji said the same. Well, it was a big deal!" He finally sat on the stool covering his face with both hands in frustration before slapping himself and deciding to write back. "Okay, I'll do it."

The other man left the knife aside watching him with a tender smile how he was struggling to type an answer and then erasing every single intention, at the last throwing his cellphone away. "Coward." Kazutora scoffed, resuming cutting the veggies.

"Shut up."

Someone knocked on the condo door and the crestfallen man went to open it up, so dissociated that didn't even think how strange was to have visitors. This was like living that day over again, the woman was standing in front taking him by surprise.

Watching from the kitchen that he was frozen in place, Kazutora yelled from his spot peaking his head, "Chifuyu, who is it?"

"Jeez, this brings me memories." Y/n looked to the floor waiting to be allowed in. "Would you let me in, Matsuno?"

"I was about to... to answer your message. Please, come in."

"Too long just to reply a 'yes' or 'no', don't you think?"

The cooker went pale when he saw her enter. He was encouraging his housemate to reply to her when he hadn't gotten the guts to look at her after all the time he had been released. Kazutora didn't imagine she would willingly come to their place so casually.

The woman returned the gaze from feet away, beforehand she knew that they lived together and had come anyway. The guilt of not being able to talk to each other for years was mutual and the tension in the air was thick.

"Smells good."

"Y/n..." He hadn't noticed the dryness of his throat until he tried to speak that he had to gulp with a great effort. "Would you like to join us for dinner?"

"It'll be my pleasure."

It was a good beginning at least, the two faintly smiled at each other before he hurried to finish cooking and Chifuyu helped her take off her coat. Nobody was talking, the silence was a bit awkward but they kept busy arranging the table stuff.

The three were already sitting with their meals trying to not make a sound and giving each other side looks.

"This is weird..."

"Hmh."

"Wine?"

"Yes, please!"

"God, yeah."

The dinner still went quiet but at least they were feeling chiller.

"Thanks, it was quite delicious."

"I'm glad to hear it. I'll leave you two to talk." Kazutora stood up to gather the plates once they finished and Chifuyu bristled knowing he was going to be alone with her.

The woman stopped him from going to the kitchen with a stern look and signaling his chair shaking her head. "I came to talk to both." She let out a long breath after gulping what was left of her drink getting ready for the scold/warning she had prepared.

"That sounds bad, I'm opening another bottle."

Chifuyu drowned in his seat imagining what this was about, looking away with a scowl and tapping the table with his fingers until the other filled the glasses for them.
