Time was surreal in that place. Y/n lost track of how long she spent with Baji looking at every moment they had spent together, door after door.
"I heard you were the highest in the exam again." The young black-haired boy approached the crest-fallen girl at her locker before she could run home.
"You haven't talked to me since we had detention, and you came now to make fun of me?" She hid her frown face while changing her shoes, trying hard not to get swayed by her resentment after being called a nerd and freak the whole morning by her other classmates.
Baji caught her hostile tone and recognized he should be softer. "I..."
"I get it. I'm used to it. You don't have to be nice to me. People will think you're weird if you get along with me."
The boy took a long in his head trying to find the words or the courage to talk that she finished getting ready to leave. Young Y/n took her backpack and started walking away.
Unable to speak and rejected even before he had a chance to ask for what he wanted, Baji, filled with frustration, reached out to her and yanked at his backpack.
"Stop treating me like I'm like all those dumb kids! All I wanted was to ask you for help studying."
They used to complement each other.
Keisuke's carefree demeanor washed over her, teaching her that she shouldn't try hard to be liked by people. Y/n made the boy aware of what was important, improving his studies and being polite, at least when he was with her.
"I told you it wasn't hard to get an A in the test." The girl said between laughs to the one sitting over her desk while sharing their lunches.
Someone else approached, clearing his throat and interrupting them. "Baji, I need to admit it was a good play. You already passed the exam Stop pretending you like the snitch, and let's go play outside."
"Sounds good." The boy answered, taking Y/n aback and making her feel shocked before he continued. "You'll be in my team."
"Me?"
"Of course! You kick Shimizu's ass once. Who else better than you to beat him?" His bright and genuine smile was enough to convince her.
"Wait, no! That's not what I meant!" Riku was baffled and stayed behind when both fled outside to the playground.
What once seemed to be impossible for Y/N became real. She found people who appreciate her true self thanks to Baji.
"It was a bad idea bringing her." The short blond said, watching young Y/n becoming friends with the boy who got withdrawn around girls.
"Don't blame me! It was your idea." The black-haired responded as irked as him, walking behind the kids.
"We can hear you, idiots!" The boy stopped talking about desserts with Y/n, annoyed by those mumbling at their backs.
"For someone who claimed to hate girls, you're handling it pretty well, Haruchiyo," Mikey remarked with his arms crossed, an arched brow, and a suspicious expression.
The girl laughed out loud, noticing him crisping by being exposed. She turned to look at them but kept walking with a soft demeanor. "It's unbelievable that Haru could hate something. He's way too sweet."
The two at the back line twisted their face, and the one walking beside her got flustered.
"How did you call him?" Mikey blurted out.
