Callan Anders POV

"No I will not invest my funds into any orphanages. Those little bastards aren't my problem!" My father rebuffs.

We are seated in the boardroom where his advisor has been trying to convince him for the past 1 hour to endow funds into charity.

"Attending the charity event would be good for publicity," she tries her luck in convincing him.

My father ponders for a while before inquiring for my opinion, "what do you think son?"

Snapping out of my thoughts, I respond "I think Miss Aquila is right. You're one of the most influential people in the industry. How would the media react if you don't attend this crucial event. That would ruin your reputation".

I feel aiding in charity should come from the love of the heart and not for the sake of publicity. Although I do not support his logic, there's no other way I can reason with this stubborn man.

He considers my statement and dismisses the meeting. Finally, I was minutes away from completely dozing off. I immediately get up and take my phone out to alert Andreas that I'm now free for the rest of the day. We are supposed to meet up for dinner at Vin Gatte tonight.

Im about to leave the building when one of the staff advances towards me.

"Mr Anders, you're already leaving? I know this is unacceptably unprofessional and we should follow protocol but we wish to have a meeting with you urgently concerning employee salaries. They are scheming to go on strike," she enlightens me.

"Uh," I look at my wrist watch. "I don't think that would be possible. This is past my working hours and I have an appointment I need to attend to. Perhaps reschedule it for tomorrow or have a word with my dad," I suggest.

"But he isn't easy to talk to-" she says but gets cut off when she sees me walking away towards the exit.

"Mr Anders, this would go bad for the company!" She yells behind me but I pay no attention as I head outside with my car keys in my hand. I get inside my car and drive off.

I arrive at the restaurant at 6:30pm. A besuited man escorts me to a table and hands me a menu.

"Oh no. I'm waiting for somebody," I say and he lightly nods his head before leaving.

30 minutes has passed since I got here and Andreas isn't here yet. I swear, when he gets here, I'll wrung his neck-

Suddenly I see him advancing towards my table. "Sorry, for being tardy," he apologizes as he pulls out the chair and settles.

"You had me waiting for half an hour man, what's your issue?" I scold.

"I received your message a while later after you sent it. I was caught up in something," Andreas responds.

"Pounding your bitch from behind?" I jest.

He chuckles. "As much as I like the sound of that, no. I had to clear up things with Mrs Devante. That bitch just can't quit running her mouth," he speaks in disdain.

As much as he speaks scornfully about the old lady, he actually fears her.

A waiter approaches our table and hands us the menu when suddenly we hear arguing further behind the restaurant. I look back and that's when I see her, Kashmere Lynn. She's arguing with a man who I assume is the manager. She also has a friend at the table who is trying to reason with the manager.

"What's going on?" I ask the waiter serving us.

He fixes his round glasses before responding, "They aren't able to pay for their $1000 bill".

I decide to mind my own business and look through the menu but the commotion behind me still goes on. I get up from my seat and head over to their table.

"You will have to do labour in the kitchen!" The manager yells at them but I intervene.

"That will not be necessary," I say as I dig into my pocket and pull out my wallet. I take out ten $100 notes and hand them to the manager but he doesn't take it.

"You don't have to sir. These children are nuisances and shouldn't be let off easily," the manager declines in fury.

"No no. I insist, please take it," I urge until he finally takes it. I turn around and head back to my table.

"Dude, what the fuck was that all about?" Andreas ask's.

"What good is there in listening to all that unfold? I have the funds, so why can't I help?" I respond.

"Geez man," he briefly enlarges his eyes as he picks up the menu and scans it.

I watch as Kashmere and her friend get escorted out of the restaurant.
