Kashmere Lynn's POV
*Earlier that day*

I've turned 24. It's unbelievable how fast time has flown these past few years. I'm proud to say, I have completed university.

Today is a really important day. Not only is it my graduation day but also, my parents from back in Kansas will be coming to witness their girl graduate. I'll be seeing them for the first time in 6 years.

Today is also a really important day for somebody else.

Somebody I used to know.

Somebody I used to love.

He is getting married. The media couldn't stop reporting on this wonderful event that is yet to happen today.

I hate him so much. Not only because he is marrying somebody else but because he never came after me. He claimed to love me but he just let me go. That day I told him I was leaving, I hoped he would stop me. I hoped he would cuff my hand to his so I wouldn't leave but...he never did.

As much as I may hate him, I feel I should have been the one to walk down that aisle. Commit myself to him for the rest of my life. But I guess he chose what he thought was best for him.

The graduation ceremony begins in an hour and so Cara and I begin to prepare ourselves. Bella, later on shows up and we drown her in hugs. She completed university last year. Of course, we attended her graduation and she's now returning the favour for her friends.

Cara alerts us of my parents' arrival. She volunteers to head outside and bring them to our dorm leaving Bella and I in the room. A few moments later, we hear my father's muffled voice through the hallway. When the door opens, Bella and I stand side by side to welcome them.

My parents walk in. Even at the age of 40, my mother still looks the same from the last time I saw her. I inherited most of my features from her. Dark eyes, silk pressed shoulder length hair and brown skin. My father on the other hand is 60 years old and appears to look older than his age.

"Kashmere," my father says upon seeing me as he walks towards me ready to embrace me.

I open my arms too but to my surprise, he hugs Bella.

Confusion etches my features.

"You were so little when I last saw you". He touches Bella's face.

My mother covers her mouth with her palm to hide her mirth.

"Honey that isn't Kashmere," she let's out a small chuckle. "She's the other one".

My father looks at me in confusion as though he cannot recognize me.

I slightly wave my hand at him with an awkward smile.

"This is you Kashmere?" He ask's.

"Yes, dad" I respond with the widest smile painted on my face.

"She looks different," he looks back at my mother before looking at me in shock. "You've gained so much weight".

Understandable. The last time my parents saw me was when I was slim. I happened to gain more weight during my stay in California. Bella and I have a few similar features. Dark shoulder length hair and brown skin except that she is slim. I guess thats why he mistakened her for me.

"But I'm still your favorite little girl," I head over and hug him for the longest time before my mother comes forward too.

She embraces me and kisses my forehead.

My parents express how proud they are of me for following my dreams and being successful.

"For once, I thought you wouldn't make it when you left that day," my father tears up.

"Aww," I say as I rub his shoulder.

"Don't do that again. Don't ever leave," he says.

"I won't. I'm done now and I'll be back home with you guys," I promise.

Little did I know that things were about to change in the next couple of hours.
