Sakiya feels herself floating through a wide expanse of nothingness. Her body is weightless and the only thing she can feel against her skin is a thin sheet of silk that covers her bare form.
'Where am I? What happened?'
She floats down to the ground and watches in interest as it ripples like water despite there being nothing but darkness there. Pulling the cloth tightly around her she takes a step forward and starts to transverse the darkness in hopes of finding anything within it.
'Did I die? I remember flashes. Gunshots maybe? There was screaming and so much blood. I think I did die.'
Blurred visions of a past life flash behind her eyes as she tries to remember the events that made her end up here.
'How sad. I didn't even get to say goodbye. Not that there was much of anyone to say that too given that I had no family.'
"Do not fret child. Your life indeed has come to an end. But the end can also become a new beginning" a deep voice sounds from the expanse of darkness and she spins around her eyes setting upon a figure standing off in the distance silhouetted by the addition of a large orb of light resembling the moon behind him.
"Who are you? Where am I?" Sakiya asks, apprehensive as she studies the man's appearance.
The man looks to be in his twenties with long dark hair that is a red color at the end that's held up into a ponytail at the back of his head. His eyes are a deep burgundy color and he has strange flame-like markings over his right eye that are a deep crimson in color. He wears a red haori over a tannish orange nagagi and black hakama pants. A sword sits loosely on his left hip sheathed and mostly concealed out of sight.
"I do suppose introductions are in order. I am Yoriichi Tsugikuni and I brought you, Sakiya Akiawa, here after you perished in hopes that you can help me with a problem" the man now known as Yoriichi says, stepping towards her so they are only a few feet apart.
"What could you possibly need my help with?" Sakiya asks, thoroughly confused as she can't understand why a random man who wields the power to summon a deceased spirit to a dimension like this could need help with anything.
