'How could this happen? Kyojuro' Shinobu thinks as she runs alongside Gyomei towards the wreckage. The sun bathes everything in a warm golden tone making the forest look beautiful masking the dark tragic scene that it hides within its depths.
She glances over at Gyomei who holds a solemn look on his face as silent tears stream from his white eyes.
Kakushi members surge ahead so they can join the others that are already on scene. As the two Hashira approach their destination they hear Tanjiro's voice shouting at the top of his lungs. "Stop! Don't touch them, you will kill them if you do!"
Shinobu comes to stop her eyes taking in the scene before her with an eerie calmness to her. She see's Tanjiro blocking the Kakushi from getting close while Inosuke and Zenitsu circle their friend, also preventing them from nearing. She can feel the confusion from all parties and steps forward ready to end this foolishness.
"What is going on here?" Everyone looks over at her and Tanjiro's eyes widen at her appearance.
"Kocho-san!"
"Kamado. You must let them through. I know it must be difficult to accept but they have to do their job and retrieve the body" Shinobu says, her voice stern as she addresses the distraught boy.
"No you misunderstand. They can't come near. Sakiya made me promise that she would not be separated from Rengoku-san! It will kill them both if you do!" Tanjiro pleads, trying to make them understand his actions even if he doesn't understand why it has to be this way in the first place.
"What do you mean?" Shinobu asks and steps forward. Inosuke and Zenitsu let her pass and her eyes widen as she catches sight of the two. Sakiya sits peacefully still almost like a guardian angel hovering over the person they were to guard.
She covers her mouth with her hand as she sees the massive amount of blood covering the two.
What shocks her the most is that Sakiya is clearly still alive, her chest rising and falling with every shallow breath she takes. Kyojuro, despite having a gaping hole in his stomach, is also alive even if it's just barely.
