I was listening to Voilà while writing this and HIGHLY recommend you listen while reading. (The André Rieu version)

Y/n's pov-

They insisted and persuaded me to be in attendance tonight. Some fundraising event my friend's rich parents had organised, a ball. Sounds stupid, to cram me into a room with snobby privileged people wearing an overpriced dress and a mask but regardless I'm here, and there is no backing out now.

My dress is by far the nicest bit of clothing I have ever brought. A floor-length silk red dress, a slit up the leg with beautiful lace on the rimming, its low cut on the chest, a deep V with more of the lace decorating the bodice. I feel like a princess. My mask was also red, a simple lace-style mask on just my eyes with a single flower design sticking out the top.  I walked, my friend's arm and I locked together and it is the grandest hall I have ever been in, high ceilings with incrusted gold decor, and a chandelier perfectly in the middle. The lighting is low, music flowing through the room, some people dancing, others mingling.

I have decided for the most part of this evening I will be laying low, hiding in a corner or by my friends. It's funny how out of place you can feel even if you try your hardest to look the part. I only manage to hide for so long before my friend pulls me out to the dance floor, snatching the glass of champagne from my hand.

"Y/n I'm serious, you need to find someone tonight! No complaints, no hiding. You can't keep living in a shell" She complains to me. "Excuse you. I happen to love the shell I live in thank you very much" I shrug in response, putting on a fake posh accent. "Just dance with me, one dance that's all, give everyone here a little peek into who you are" I roll my eyes but comply regardless, I know I'm not going to be able to get her off my back otherwise.

We sway together slowly, occasionally spinning each other around but that is it. As soon as the song ends I 'excuse myself' to the 'bathroom', in reality, I'm getting a fresh glass of champagne. Whilst on my adventure for a new drink I stumble across the buffet... what's the harm in a little food?

I have a big smile on my face while I grab a plate and put some food on it. "omg this looks so good..." I mummble to myself "I know right" I hear a voice say back. Startled, I quickly try to find where the voice came from and am met with a girl standing next to me, She is wearing a black suit with a bit of dark green designs on it, along with a black mask. Looking at my face she lets out a soft laugh "These rich people always have good food" She adds and I nod my head. "Care to join me?" She offers, signalling to a nearby table. "I would love to" I give her a soft smile while following her over to the table and having a seat.

I take a small bite of some ham I picked up while having a closer look at her, despite not being able to see her full face I can see some details. She has a soft spray of freckles across her cheeks, her eyes look soft through her mask, and her hair is short, cut just above her shoulders." I take it by your comments you're not one of these rich fundraisers?" I ask her and she nods her head. "My friend and her family are and they invited me to come tonight, wouldn't say I had much of a choice" Her voice is calm and warm. "Funny, that's the exact same reason I'm here" I laugh before nervously shoving more food into my mouth.

"I thought tonight would be a bore but... I think it's just become a bit better" She has this smirk on her face that is making me feel something. Nervous, or maybe excited. I'm not sure, but I don't hate it, I actually kind of like it. "How about a dance? Better than just sitting here all night" She stands up and offers her hand to me, I hesitate for a second before taking a deep breath and accepting her hand as she pulls me off to the dance floor.

Her hands gently hold my waist as mine snake up to her neck, interlocking my fingers behind her head as we sway softly. "I guess a girl as pretty as you would have a date tonight right? Some man dressed like a prince to accompany his princess?" She jokes, and I can't hide my laughter. "No. No prince tonight. Or ever really" I can see her raise an eyebrow at my reply "Ever? What a silly claim" I can tell she's trying to figure out something about me, and I hope it's for the reason I think it is. "It's not silly if it's true. I don't particularly like the prince, more interested in his princess I suppose".

She grabs my hand and gently pushes me away before twirling me around, "Well then, lucky me" She hums before pulling me back close to her. Close enough I can feel her breath against me. "My name is Sae-byeok" She introduces herself, her name is beautiful. "Y/n... pleasure to meet you" I give her a soft smile, trying my hardest to hide my nerves.

I get lost staring at her, as others dance around us I feel like I've just entered my own version of Romeo and Juliet. The music is something from a Victorian movie, the tension is straight from a book, and it sounds stupid to say, but a connection feels like it's being made.

As the music comes to an end Sae-byeok slowly lets go of me, "What would it take to convince you to come to my house after this?" She asks me, not in a creepy way but in a gentle, soft way. "Not much..." I answer her, butterflies erupting in my stomach. "well then... it would be my honour" She playfully bows in front of me "Honours all mine" I laugh before giving her a small curtsy.

Part 2 or nah?
