"Fuck, Amelia!", Matt says realising who he'd bumped and giving me a hug. "I've got to stop knocking you over", he says with an awkward laugh.

"It's totally fine", I say seeming to relax.

"You here with your boyfriend?", he asks looking past me, trying to find Carter in the crowd.

"Ah no. We broke up.", I say quietly.

  "Not because you kis...".

I cut him off before he can finish that question.

"No no no. It just wasn't working. We're both so different so I broke it off with him", saying it out loud makes my heart ache.

  I miss Carter.

  Fuck.

"Oh... I'm sorry", Matt says rubbing my arm and distracting me from my thoughts.

"It's all good... just wasn't meant to be I guess...", I rock on my heels trying to hold back the tears that lay dormant behind my eyes.

"Hey I'm here with my family so I've got to run but did you want to hang out later? Or tomorrow?", he asks.

"Yeah sure", my mouth responds before I can think.

For fuck sake.

"Cool I'll text you", he leans in and kisses my cheek before heading back to his table.

I turn on my heel and walk back to mine.

"Who was that?", Taya asks as I take my seat again.

"Matt? The base player from that band I saw the other night?", I reply as if she should already know.

  "Ohhh.", she says.

"Yeah, I thought I recognised him", Colton says giving me a knowing look.

"Calm down, he's just a mate", I say rolling my eyes and taking a large sip of my drink.

About twenty minutes later, our food arrives and it smells incredible. I order another drink and before long the conversation and laughs are flowing without a hint of my drama amongst it.

By the time we're ready to head home the alcohol has given me a little buzz and spending time with my two best friends has me forgetting about the mess of my love life and I'm starting to feel a little better.

"Thanks for tonight guys.", I say to Taya and Colton as we get to the car.

"It was a good night wasn't it?", Taya says.

"Like old times", Colton adds and we all climb in.

"I'm going to miss you dude!", I say as I wrap my arms around Colton's waist in a huge hug.

He kisses my forehead and hugs me tightly back.

"I'm going to miss you to.. Please call me if you need anything, even if it's just to talk", he says against my hair.

"I will. Be safe up there okay? And come home to visit again soon".

"I will, I promise". Colton says. He kisses the top of my head again and then releases me.

He steps in front of Taya and hugs her before picking up his bag and opening the front door.

"WE LOVE YOU!", Taya and I yell to him as he gets into the Uber.

"DON'T GET ANYONE PREGNANT!", I scream, causing Taya and I to burst into a fit of laughter.

"I'll try not to!", he yells back.
