"It's dreadful." I say and she rolls her eyes as she sits on the bed next to me.
"No, I mean, how do you know when you're in love?" She asks and I breathe in and out deeply before replying.
"It's like the only thing can think about is him, the only person you want to be around is that special person. You get butterflies when talking and you can't stop smile when you think about him or see him. It's a magical thing, you'll know. Why who do you get nervous around?" I ask.
"Well, this guy in my grade that lives around the corner." She says and almost jumps up and don't. Could it be Amie's brother? Hopefully not.
"W-what's his name?" I ask.
"Matthew!" She says excitedly and my stomach sinks.
"Oh." I say. We talk for a bit and she finally leaves. This can't happen!
The next day Amie calls me, screaming in excitement.
"OMG, OUR SIBLINGS ARE DATING!"
Shit.
I hang up and storm into my sisters room.
"Are you crazy?" I yell.
"What?"
"You've got to break up with him!"
"No! He's the love of my life." She says and crosses her arms.
"You met him yesterday!"
"So?"
"So, you barely know the guy." I say.
"Jai looked at you and fell in love with you. Gemma, I can have a boyfriend if I want. You're just jealous because your boyfriend is never around. Now get out of my room." She says as she pushes me out of the door and slams the door in my face.
"You're making the worst mistake of your life!" I yell through the door.
"Is that really what you think of our relationship?" A voice says behind me. A voice I haven't heard in a while.
"Jai!" I say as I turn around, I jump into a hug and he chuckles.
"I missed you too." He says and I smile.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"The last leg of the tour was postponed until August." He says.
"So, I have my boyfriend back?" I ask and he nods.
"Awesome." I say, while jumping up and down, and he laughs.
"Wait, why do you have all of your bags?"
"Uhm, my mum is out of town for about a week and she didn't expect me to come home and she locked me out of the house, can I stay here?" He asks, awkwardly.
"Of course you can!" I say enthusiastically. We walk down stairs and find my mum watching a movie, I have no idea what it is, but it's weird.
"Hey mum, Jai can't go home for a few days, can he stay here?" I ask.
"Oh of course!" She says.
"But you're not staying in the same room!" She says, oh yeah we're totally going to do that. I roll my eyes and Jai laughs at her choice of tone in her voice and I show Jai to his room.
"My mother is pathetic." I say and he laughs.
"Nah, it's okay." He says and drops his bags. He walks closer to me and my breath gets harder. I haven't kissed Jai is so long, I'm kind of nervous. He connects his lips with mine and it felt natural, why was I so nervous?
"I still, and never will, understand why you won't say you love me." He says and looks deeply into my eyes.
"I don't know either, I just... it's not the right time."
"That's been your excuse for the last two years." He says and I sit on the bed.
"I'm sorry." I say and put my face in my hands. I feel the bed sink next to me and Jai puts his arm around me.
"Don't apologise, I'm sorry for pushing you. I know you haven't had a great past with guys and... well me." He says, softly and I nod.
"It's not that I don't love you, I've never said it to someone, other than my sister, brother and my mum. I just can't." I admit.
"Okay."
