By The Way I'm Not Sure (Jai Waetford Fan Fiction)

Chapter 21 - Grounded

"Crap." I say and run down the street towards my house, I was only supposed to be with Jai for two hours! Jai runs after me, trying to catch up, but I was too far ahead. So, I'm not very skinny and sporty, but I sure as hell can run. I run inside my house and my mum looks angry.

"Gemma! If I didn't trust Jai so much you'd be grounded right now. Well, you're grounded anyway. Your curfew was 5 hours ago!" She says and Jai walks into the house after me.

"You are not to leave the house after school and Jai cannot come over." I look behind at Jai who has his hand on my shoulder.

"I think I'll go." He says as my mother walks away. He kisses me then leaves without a word. I sigh and retreat to my bedroom. Being grounded already sucks, but then again she could have taken my computer or my phone. I guess I'm lucky in that sense then. I log onto Twitter and tweet,

'Grounded again and bored. What about a DM spree?' I click tweet and a few people send me DM's including Jai. I talk to about 5 lovely girls and Jai.

'I wish I wasn't grounded.' I say to him.

'You could sneak out.' He says. I laugh, but with my sister away at a school camp which started today and my mother probably sleeping like a log tonight...

'I think I could. Meet me at my window at 12?" I ask and he sends a smiley face and a thumbs up emoji. I say goodbye to all the other people I was talking to and log off. Mum calls me down for dinner and I obey. I spent the whole day on Twitter? Really?

"Are you not talking to me because you're grounded?" My mother asks as our knives and forks clink on our plates.

"Of course not, there's just nothing to talk about." I say and she nods.

"So, what did you and Jai get up to last might?" She asks.

"Well, we talked through our worries in the park, then fell asleep on the grass, that's why I didn't come home. I forgot." I say and she nods before taking both of our plates.

I wait for Jai all night, but he never comes. I fall down on my bed at 4 in the morning before I wake to a clinking sound at my window. I open it and find Jai smirking at me.

"I'm sorry. I fell asleep at 11, but I can make it up to you." He says.

"Okay. Let me get changed first." I say and look down at my black singlet and grey pyjama pants. I run into the bathroom with my clothes and get changed. I climb down the side of my house in my Jacob Whitesides hoodie and denim shorts.

"Ready?" Jai asks and I nod. We walk along the road, hand-in-hand. We get to the lake/beach thing's dock and we sit at the end with our feet in the water. A few minutes later the sun starts trickling over the horizon. I lay down on the wood and Jai joins me.

"I'm sorry that I didn't come last night." He says.

"It doesn't matter." I say.

"You know what my mum said about sleeping on a patch of grass with you?" He asks.

"No. I don't." I say as if it's very obvious, which it is.

"At least you're happy and at least she's happy. You guys haven't been happy for months." He says and I laugh.

"We haven't." I agree with his quotation of his mother. We both sit up and the sunset is fully out now, red and pink and blue and black and yellow,

"Beautiful." I say.

"Like you."

"You've said that too many times, it's not sweet anymore." I say and Jai softy smiles at me.

"Too many things I've said to you. I can barely say anything now." He says and I don't reply. Honestly, what could I have said?

"So, I am releasing a new album soon. You know those songs I've been so desperately working on?" He asks and I nod.

"I was wondering weather you'd like to play the guitar in my new song with me. I wrote one last night." He says and hands me a crumpled up piece of paper. I read silently through the lyrics of the song, it's called Falling.

"Are you sure?" I ask and he nods back.

"Okay." I say and he hugs me, he's happy.

"Just remember, no matter how much Simon tells you to, you don't have to give me royalties." I say and he nods.

"You know I will anyway." He says as he starts to walk through the park.

"Of course." I mumble and follow him.
