Chapter 6 - The Price Of Freedom

Oh my god. I've already written the description for 'By The Way I Love You' which is the third book. My god.
And also I put a dot in gaps because Wattpad doesn't allow for gaps in chapters anymore. IT'S DUMB. 😡

Over the next couple of days I started to wonder why my mother still kept me and didn't send me away. I was awful to live with and Jai wasn't making anything easier for me. I found myself beginning to act like my sister.

"I'm not going to be like her." I say to myself and walk outside. I lay on the grass and stare up at the blue sky. It was absolutely beautiful and I don't know what I'd do without it. It made me feel free. Except I wasn't. I was caught in the depths of absolutely everything life throws at you and I don't know what to do about it. I wasn't free at all. No one is in the end, we're all trapped in a atmosphere and you're really only free in space because, without even trying, you can simply float away.

That's freedom, when you can drift away with no problems caught in your social bubble, but life wasn't handing me that when I open my eyes to see a, very tall looking, LIzzy hovering over me.

"What do you want?" I ask and she smiles.

"I want a truce with you." She says and I groan as I sit up. Damn, she annoys me.

"How'd you get in?" I ask and she is emotionless.
.
"It's called a door." She says sarcastically.
.
"Yeah. Right. I forgot." I say, sarcasm evident in my voice and she sighs.

"Just listen, I really want to have a truce with you because we were great friends."

Until you took my boyfriend away.

When you talk to LIzzy the essence of lies drip off her every word.

"I miss you."

Lie
.
"I'm so lonely and I know you are too."
.
Lie.
.
"Sorry Lizzy." I say.
.
"But I'm not lonely and I'm not interested in you back stabbing me again. You should leave." I say and walk inside.

"Whatever." She calls and I ignore her.
.
"Oh, Gemma! How are you?" My mother asks as I walk through the kitchen. Where she's cooking something that smells great, but is probably terrifying.

"I was splended until Lizzy became all dracular on me." I say and walk away. I was disappointed when I found Jai 'listening' to Kayla blabber on in the lounge room.

"God. What are you doing here?" I ask and he stands up from sitting on the lounge.

"Yeah, it's great to see you too Gemma." He says and I make a fake laughing face and Kayla giggles at our sarcasm.

"Stop flirting with me Jai." I say and he smiles. Kayla says 'bye' to Jai and death stares me before running upstairs and slamming her door.

"Now, what are you doing here?" I ask and he stares into my eyes.
.
"Begging for a truce?" He says and I sigh.
.
"Oh, don't you start." I say and he smiles.
.
"I take it that Lizzy has been?" He asks and I nod.
.
"It was a joke. I'm not askin for truce, only forgiveness." He says and we sit down next to each other.

"Jai, I have been trying to forgive you, but everytime I think about you I imagine that night when I ran rom that room actually in tears." I say and he lowers his head to stare at his fidgetting hands.

"I'm sorry." He says and looks back up to me.
.
"I know." I say and he just stares into my eyes. It was true though, I kind of did forgive him, but it was so difficult.

"Was there any significant reason you came here?" I ask and he shakes his head. That's annoying.
.
"Are we still friends?" He asks.
.
"Yeah. If you want." I say. I knew he still wanted to be friends, but mainly he still wanted to date me.
.
A few days later Jai was still hanging around me, but I found the freedom in my life, the freedom that Jai would at least give me. In the end we're manipulated in small groups - which people now call communities - by the government and they think they're powerful for it. But they aren't, you're only powerful if you physically give someone a piece of paper that says 'I GRANT YOU FREEWILL', but they won't. They'll continue to control us and they'll continue to think it's for our own good. I forgave Jai. I actually forgave. Well crap.
