Friday. Not my best day after last nights fight with Jai. He didn't try to stop me from going home last night, so he mustn't care for me all that much.
"Gemma." Jai says as I sit alone at lunch beside the library.
"What?" I ask and he sits down next to me.
"I'm sorry for last night." He says and Lana and her friends all walk past us. Lana gives me a glare and I look away from her.
"It doesn't matter." I say and stand up. He follows me.
"Yes, it does."
"Jai. I honestly don't want to fight with you. Not here."
"I'm not trying to fight. Just hear me out." He says and I don't reply.
"I didn't want to kiss Lana. Our parents are trying to set us up and I wanted to make my mum happy, so I had to ask Lana out." He says and I felt like I was going to cry.
They're dating?
"She was flirting with me, I promise I didn't want to make anything of it. When I came back inside my mum tried to make me feel better and so Lana's parents told me that I had to ask out Lana in front of everyone. So I did and she said yes, but I'm ending it for you. I'm only ending our relationship though if you promise you'll go out with me." He says.
"How can I promise that Jai? There is honestly no way of knowing which way you'll go next, you'll probably just break my heart again." I say and walk away. At that moment the bell rings for period four and after that I could go home.
After school I walk home with Jai. He insisted he came with me. I pick up
Kayla and I was happy when we got to his place. Jai stood before me, looking into my eyes.
"I'm sorry. Please forgive me so I can break it off with Lana. It's the only way." He says and I walk away with Kayla.
Later that day I see Lana pull up at Jai's place with her parents and she was in a black, expensive looking, SUV. Her parents are rich, that's for sure. She runs up to Jai and gives him a passionate kiss. It gave me a headache.
There was a window seat at my window and all afternoon I just looked out to the ocean, I had nothing better to do. I'd usually hang out with Jai when we were dating. Lana was definitely a possessive girlfriend to Jai and maybe I should have been a bit like that, I shouldn't have trusted him around other girls so much.
Lana had left Jai's place an hour earlier and now Jai was walking towards my house. Kayla lets him in and he walks into my room behind me.
"You and Lana are a great couple." I say and forbid the tears to fall.
"Don't." He says.
"Don't what? What can't I do now?" I ask.
"You can't say that. I dumped her."
"Well, done." I say and he balls his fists in frustration.
"Don't do this Gemma. You are really good at making me angry, but please don't do that today." He says, sounding quite agitated now.
"Why? Did she cheat on you too?" I ask and now I look at him. I've never seen Jai so angry. Who knew I could be the reason? I knew there was other things behind it, but I was the trigger.
"So, you come around here and think I'll go out with you because you broke up with Lana?" I ask. "because that's not how I run."
"I know that, but Gemma I knew you were going to say 'yes' before Lana. I knew you were going to say that you'd go out with me." He says.
"That's crap." I say, even though it was very true.
"You annoy the hell out of me and you'll continue you to break me until I snap!" I say.
"You said you loved me." He says.
"You know what? I'm not quite sure how I feel about you! All you did was come over here and make things worse. You're going to have to prove yourself more that if I'm going to date you ever again." I hiss.
"I'm sorry." He says and I look up at him. The tears finally falling, the mascara smudging across my cheeks. He pulls me into a hug.
