Chapter 34 - Clouds

In the morning, I wake up to Jai jumping happily around my room.

"Gemma! You're awake!" He yells in a very fake girly voice.

"Yeah, what's happening?" I ask.

"Wee-ell, I'm going to London!" He says, extremely happily.

"What the hell is so good about that?" I ask, tired. Ugh, what time is it? I check the time as he talks. 5am, thanks Jai for waking me up so early...

"You get to come with me!" He says. Shocked, I throw my phone across the room.

"Oh my gosh! Really?" He nods, and I hug him tight.

"When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow." I scream, and he watches me as I celebrate. I love London, and I've always wanted to go there, but unfortunately mum has never had the travelling aspiration. I can't believe I'm going to London!

"Wait, it's almost Christmas. Will we be back before Christmas?" I ask, and he bites his lip.

"No..."

"Ugh, I wanted to spend Christmas with our families this year." I say, annoyed. I really want to go to London, but family means so much to me.

"Come on, Gem. This is your early Christmas present. How about we Skype on Christmas day?"

"Really? It's my Christmas present?" I ask, and he nods. I hug and thank him.

"I'm so glad I have you." I say, and he smiles. He kisses me before leaving the room, allowing me to pack.

I open my wardrobe, and stuff pretty much every item of clothing into my suitcase. I take all of my shoes (as I'm not a girly girl, and don't have many clothes or shoes), and push my suitcase down the stairs, it crashes at the bottom with a loud bang, and my mum runs to the stairs, confused.

"Are you going on a holiday?" She asks.

"Yeah, uhm, Jai got me an early Christmas present, a trip to London!" I say, trying to break the news to her the easiest way.

"Oh, so no big family christmas?" She asks.

"No, sorrrry..." I reply, and she walks away, disappointed. Gemma, time to start crawling. I look down at my fidgeting fingers, and Jai wraps his arms around my waist from behind me.

"You all ready?" He whispers in my ear, and I nod.

"What's wrong?" He asks, noticing my different-ness.

"I had to tell mum, she didn't take it very well." I say, and he 'oh's.

"She'll get over it." He says as I turn around to face him.

"I really disappointed her." I say, and he sighs.

"Gemma! Jai!" Mum calls from the lounge room. We hurry down to her and she's sitting by the Christmas tree.

"Seeing as though you guys aren't going to be here for Christmas, I thought you should open your present now, you can't take them on the plane so.." She says and hands us both a package. We both rip open the paper, and I smile as I see an iPhone 6 box.

"Aww, thanks mum." I say. Jai opens his and he got a canon eos 700d camera for YouTube videos.

"That's from everyone." She says to both of us.

"Yeah everyone pitched in for the camera, even your mum."

"Thanks, a lot." Jai says, happily.

"And the phone." Kayla says.

"We'll just open the ones you got for us on Christmas day." Mum says and I look over at Jai.
