"I wanna be first, yeah, take it all the way like this." I sing along to One Direction's old song 'Last First Kiss'. I wasn't a great singer, but I really love to sing when I'm alone or I'm fine when I'm with Jai. Which is the problem, we haven't talked in two days. Ever since the 'incident', he's been different and avoiding me. I don't get it. The only way we were going to sort this out is if I confront him.

"Jai. Can I come over? We need to talk." I say as he picks up the phone.

"Sure." He says sounding tired and hangs up. I walk to his place and knock on the door. A few minutes later Jai's mum invites me in.

"He's asleep, but you can go up." she says. I was talking to him five minutes ago? I walk quietly up to his room and knock on the door, but he doesn't answer. I walk into his room and he's fast asleep with his face leaning on his guitar.

"Babe." I say, softly.

"Jai!" I say and he jerks his head up. He has guitar string imprints on his face where he's been leaning on the guitar. I had to strongly suppress a giggle.

"Are you okay?" He asks.

"What happened?" He asks again, sounding worried.

"Nothing." I say.

"I swear you were.." He starts, making hand movements, trying to explain and I sit down next to him.

"Bad dream?" I ask and he nods. I hug him and he smiles at me.

"Why haven't you talked to me in three days?" I ask and he stares into my eyes.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted to talk to me anymore." He says.

"Jai, you saved my life. I trust you." I say. I probably shouldn't trust him, but maybe now he will treat me better, now that he's finally seen what he's done to me and my naked emotions. He stares deep into my eyes.

"You sure?" He asks and I nod.

"I'm sick of fighting." I say and he smiles. He walks slowly towards me and I look up at him. We just stood there and I finally looked away.

"What happened to Melissa?" He asks. Melissa is my deluded, selfish, big sister. She disappeared at the same time as me. I look away from him as his new guitar catches my attention. The guitar is normal light brown/gold colour and has a nice wood pattern on it.

"I don't know. Mum thinks she's been adopted out into a proper home, but we'll never know." I say and he slowly nods as I look back up to him. We sit down on his bed and don't talk. What was there to hide?

"If there's any secrets we're keeping we should let them out now." I say and he nods.

"I agree." He says.

"Okay. I'll go first. When I was 12 I got slight depression and I was clean 2 years until..." I start, but for our relationship's sake, I don't continue.

"Before I came along?" He asks and I shake my head.

"There was someone else." I say.

"Who?"

"A guy named Jakob. He pretty much ruined my perfect reputation and then Lizzy and I became mean girls to defend ourselves from the rumours." I say and he nods, knowing to not take it any further.

"Okay. Well, when I was in New Zealand with my family one time I accidentally lit... my aunties... laundry on fire." He says and I laugh.

"How?" I ask through laughs.

"It's not funny!" He says in his deep voice while laughing.

"Okay, how'd you light your grandmothers laundry on fire?" I ask. Here we go. Let's here the story of how Jai, innocent Jai, managed to light a LAUNDRY on fire.

"Aunty."

"Whatever."

"Well, she told me to blow dry my cousin's hair, in the freaking laundry, and so I did, but I dropped it in the washing machine." I started laughing.

"Because I thought the washing machine was closed, but I put it on and then it had water in it and somehow it magically made fire." He says and, with a laugh, shrugs.

"I really worry about you." I say and he laughs, but a deep hearted, throaty laugh that I haven't heard in at least 2 months since America. I CAN'T BELIEVE HE SET A LAUNDRY ON FIRE!

The rest of the night was spent laughing and telling stories about our childhood. We were finally getting along for once and we fell asleep on each other by 3am.

In the morning I wake up and Jai isn't there once more. I attempt to brush my hair with Jai's comb, but it doesn't work very well and I just decide to put it up in a messy-ish pony tail.

I finally find Jai in the dinning room looking through pictures on his phone, pictures of him and I a while ago, when everything was okay. I notice a tear running down his face despite his amazing smile. I sneak up behind him and lean on his shoulders.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"Happy tears." He admits and I smile. I sit down next to him and we look through the photos together. There were a lot of photos of just us taking stupid selfies, hundreds of them actually. It was the happy times, we were smiling and making weird faces. A few of the photos were of us at the school dance last year, the school carnivals and sports days. We looked like the two happiest and in love people in the world. What happened?

"I never want to hurt you again." He says and finally looks at me.

"I know." I say. Somehow I think I hurt Jai too, but I don't want to assume that and say it and be wrong, so I left it at that.
