LISA POV:

Lisa didn't want to wait longer to meet Jennie again. She didn't know if her mother would accept her love with Jennie because her mother said that she needed time to think.

But Lisa already told herself that nothing would stop them from getting married. It was
Lisa's only goal right now. Because she did everything to get rich so that Jennie would accept her.

She called her New York Chauffeur and went directly to the airport. She already called the pilot to prepare for everything because Lisa wanted to return to Korea as soon as possible.

Lisa checked her selfies with Jennie on the phone. She smiled and caressed Jennie's chubby cheek. Even though they were separated for only a few days, she was feeling lovesick already.

Lisa couldn't wait to meet Jennie as soon as possible.

'Nothing can come between us, Jennie, even my own mother ... or anybody else .... '

'I am your sweet Angel Lili because I love you so much. I don't even know how to express how big this ever-growing feeling is inside my heart .... "

'But I can be the most ruthless person on earth for you ... I can kill anyone who dares to come between us. And I'm afraid of nothing.'

'I will come to you, Jennie .... '

JENNIE POV:

"Do you like the food?" Alex asked as she sliced the tender steak in front of her.

"Hmm, I like it, of course," I replied.

Well, I like it, but it wasn't really my favorite. I preferred eating some of my own cooking or my mom's.

Everything that was served tasted luxurious, definitely wouldn't fill my stomach.

'Imagine if Rosé is here. She will throw a riot if she knows how little the portion they gave for such a ridiculous price.'

I did accompany my boss to some fine dining meetings before. But I usually excused myself and went out to find another place that sells cheap food with a big portion.

I know, I know, it wasn't fancy and stuff. But really, how could I properly function for the whole day with that small amount?! I might as well eat air, and there would be no difference!

Alex glanced at me a few times, and she started the conversation, "Jennie, what do you think if we spend more time after this? I can take you to a romantic place. Or maybe you want to go somewhere? I can always take you."

I knew this conversation would come sooner or later.

Alex had shown interest in me for a while. I know that, I'm not some dense protagonist in a romance story. But I never really responded because I was always busy with Lisa.

At most, I only bickered to Alex because we could be good friends and coworkers.?

Besides, I'm already committed to Lisa. I didn't want Lisa to have a wrong idea if she found out about us somehow.

Knowing how crazy Lisa could be against someone else, it's better to avoid the problem as soon as possible, right?

I also didn't want to give Alex hope. She better chase her dream to be a businesswoman and married another person instead.

I intentionally combed my hair back with my hand, showing the engagement ring on my finger. Alex seemed to have noticed it for a while, but she still said nothing.

Thus, I had to make it crystal clear.

"I'm sorry, Alex. But I can't accept your advance. I think I need to make it clear here ...."

I showed my ring to her, and she only stared at it.

"I've been engaged with someone else, and I want to be loyal to her. I'm sorry that you might feel you've been tricked. I can always compensate you for helping me in other ways."

'But please, don't ask me to compensate for this dinner. You will put holes in my wallet!' I prayed in my heart.

Alex paused for a good while, then she responded, "Jennie, you might say this because you don't feel comfortable around me. I already noticed that ring yesterday, but I said nothing because I thought it was just a decoration."

"You're still engaged, right? Not married yet. So I still have a chance," Alex said.

"No, you don't have a chance. My future Wife is also my childhood sweetheart. I've loved her for fifteen years, so there is no way I'm jumping ship."

"Jennie ... may I ask if you're not comfortable around me? I know I was a playgirl, and my approach to you might not be the most polite. But I truly like you."

"I've been thinking about settling down and imagining someone to settle down with me as my life partner ... I found no one more suitable than you, Jennie."

"You don't need to work because I will provide for anything that you need. I will make sure that you will be happy every day."

"Jennie, this is the first time for me to ever say all of this to anyone. Believe it or not, you are the first one that came to my mind whenever I'm thinking about settling down on a happy and simple marriage."

I was dazed after hearing such sweet words from Alex. I had to admit that it was rare for her to actually speak so seriously.

Alex held my hands and then gazed at my eyes directly, "Jennie, I want you."
