LISA POV:

"She was the one who told me that my parents loved me, despite me having no hope towards my parents. So please understand that she is very important in my heart. She is the reason why I can be with you two right now. Even without your blessing, I will still marry Jennie Ruby Jane Kim."

Everyone was stunned, including Jennie. Lisa understood that Jennie must've not expected her to be so upfront about her feeling and announced in front of their parents that none of the matters because she would still marry Jennie nonetheless.

But for Lisa, she had planned this way before this family meeting. She knew that Jennie would never allow her to say such a thing because family mattered the most for her.

While for Lisa, the family didn't matter a lot as long as they didn't provide her with enough love. What she did right now was the same thing they did to her when she was a kid.

Lisa showered her parents with money that she earned, and she didn't even complain once about the money spent.

But she was never close to her parents, no matter how much her parents claimed it to be.

Lisa observed the expression of her parents and then Jennie's parents. She thought all of them would be angry, especially her overbearing mother.

She waited and waited. But to her surprise, Jennie's parents looked relieved after she said it, and her dad nodded affirmingly.

Meanwhile, her mom, Madam Manoban, looked annoyed as usual, but she actually sat down.

Lisa's dad was the first one to speak, "I understand that we have never been good parents to you. That's why we've been trying to compensate for it when you got older. But it's a bit too late because we found out that you're a lot more capable than you look, my daughter."

Madam Manoban added, "Mom doesn't hate you at all, sweetie. But I've been raised in a very harsh condition since I was a kid. My parents want me to be the best, the most perfect. So I also want you to be something similar."

"You're perfect now. You're beautiful, extremely wealthy, young, and well established," Madam Manoban sighed as she stared at her beloved only daughter. "But you're getting farther and farther from us. It's our fault for leaving you alone with your grandma when you were a child."

"I'm not getting farther, Mom. I'm just independent now, thanks to Jennie. She told me about being independent and be the way I wanted to be. So I didn't need to listen to someone else's expectation.

I don't want to live based on the expectation that you set me. I never want to marry one of your models or celebrities. My heart only beats for one person only."

Lisa glanced at her beloved Jennie and smiled. She held Jennie's palm and put it on her chest, "My heart beats for you, Jennie."

Now Lisa was the one who got confused since nobody talked after what she said. Until Father Kim broke the ice with a comment.

"Aish, Lisa, you're really a sweet talker, ah? Don't you see my daughters face right now?"

"Huh?"

Lisa checked on Jennie's face, and she saw that Jennie was completely red as a tomato.
