Chapter 40

LISA'S POV:

Lisa was in a terrible mood after she faced Secretary Kim just now. She sat on the couch inside her dad's office with her arm crossed. She glanced at her dad, who was still calmly sipping his tea. Lisa glared at Alex when she entered the office.

Alex hunched her shoulder and sat beside Lisa, but she distanced herself awkwardly, afraid that she could be the one who would be the victim of Lisa's rage. Alex glanced at Uncle Marco, who didn't seem to care much.

"Uncle Marco, aren't you being too lenient of Lali? I heard that she killed a few of her business rival. I just saw it once and was traumatized! She used to be very cute and obedient. Now she turned into a monster!" Alex said.

Marco put down her Luwak Coffee and sighed, "Alex, Lisa and you, grew up in a different situation. You've been pampered by Miranda for your entire life, while Evelynn, Lisa's mother, are very ruthless for Lisa's teaching."

"She's in the fashion industry, where the competition is cut throat, and stepping at your friend while they are suffering, is something normalized. She wants Lisa to grow up as a strong woman," Marco explained.

"Although I still disagree with her lazy business making scheme, I also experienced the same cut throat industry when I was younger. Some people tried to kill me in their own ways. Lisa is just defending herself."

'I think there is something wrong with this family,' Alex thought. But she was indeed growing up pampered by her mother. She wasn't like Lisa, who was left all alone most of the time, even worse, left to live with her grandma in an unknown village.

She grew up alone until that mysterious Batman-J, whom she treasured a lot, finally came to her and became the light in her darkness.

She didn't understand Lisa's loneliness and how could she become so cold and ruthless, but in the end, this was really not her field of expertise. All Alex did was screw around with the ladies and doing regular business here and there. Her parents' investment and business property were enough to maintain her and her generation later on.

She wasn't like Lisa, who was so determined in making money. She knew that Lisa only showed a fraction of the money she made. Lisa had been working hard since she was a teenager to achieve her goal to become the richest woman on earth.

"Honestly, why are you so ambitious about this, Lali? Don't you see that you're scaring Secretary Kim?" Alex said.

"It's you who scare her!" Lisa hounded Alex so suddenly. Alex cowered in fear. She slid her butt as far as it could get and distanced herself from Lisa. Really, it was very rare for Lisa to be in this terrible mood.

Lisa sighed. She was indeed in a bad mood right now. Mostly because she kept thinking about Secretary Kim. She was positive that Secretary Kim is Jennie. And she was ready for the reveal. But Alex ruined everything when she said that she had kissed Secretary Kim.

And Secretary Kim said that she had a lot of experience.

'Jennie Unnie and I know well that we're both virgin ... and I want to keep it that way until we are married ... '

Lisa kept on thinking about Jennie and marriage every second. Whenever she imagined Jennie, she imagined Batman-J, who married her. And it was an absolutely wonderful idea.

She really thought that she hit the jackpot if Secretary Kim was actually Jennie. Because that meant she could just take over the company from her dad and then started slowly boiling the frog until it was done. She wanted to impress Jennie with her quality, so she could fall in love with her.

Wouldn't it be nice if life was that easy?

'I won't believe that Jennie would gladly let herself get kissed by Alex. Secretary Kim is definitely not her. At least, I refuse to believe so. Maybe it's just a strange coincidence.' Lisa thought. But she got uncomfortable whenever she imagined Secretary Kim, with whatever kind of appearance she had got kissed by Alex.

It made her restless.

'But if Alex really kissed my Jennie...' Lisa stared at Alex with a cold gaze as if she was looking at dead meat. Alex hunched her back and gulped in fear.

"S-Stop it, Lali. I know. I'm sorry that I told Secretary Kim about you," Alex said. "Why are you so curious about her anyway? I told you that I fancy her, right?"

"I don't care whether you fancy her or what. I just want to know something," Lisa replied. "But I'm fine now. There's no way she's someone that I know."

"Heh, she is just a regular secretary, knowing your circle of friends and relation. I doubt you know her. You're being ridiculous here," Alex said, then she asked, "Anyway, how about that new girlfriend of yours? Did you finally moved on from your Batman-J?"

"She works as a secretary, just like Secretary Kim. But she said that her boss is so stingy and a henpecked husband, and that her boss's daughter is a gay wastrel who doesn't want to take care of the company," Lisa said.

Mr. Marco stopped sipping his coffee when he heard that 'gay wastrel.' He was about to say that Lisa really fit that description, but when he heard 'henpecked husband, he decided to just keep his mouth shut.

Of course, he was not a henpecked husband. He just loved his wife so much, so he let her did whatever she wanted. It was called pampering, not henpecked!

"She's very humorous and shameless, yet, very kind and caring. I feel so comfortable around her, just like when I'm with Batman-J" Lisa said. She looked up and was imagining stuff again. "Maybe, If I will never find Batman-J in my life again, I will just marry Unnie. They are the only two people who could make me comfortable."

"Well, I will always support you, Lali. Just don't mess around with Secretary Kim. She's mine, okay?" Alex said.

"She's not Unnie or Batman-J. I don't care," Lisa said coldly.
