----Akemi----

I heard the front door slam as I sat wide awake in the king sized bed. I trusted Elijah, but I didn’t trustGriffin. What if he tried to pull something again? My brain ran possibility outcomes and that was a high percentage of one. It was either that or he wanted to talk about it being more. I knewGriffinsince the fourth grade when I got sent over fromChina. I hated that place. Especially the food. You can rarely ever get a good burger inChinawith my family. I knew they thought I was dead. They had no knowledge of what was happening over here except for brief news castings that were much edited and the higher government officials of course.

My mind served back to the thought of Griffintaking Elijah out. I began getting enraged as the thought of them kissing swayed its way back into my neurons. I clenched my fist and breathed. I was okay now.  The bedroom door creaked open and she walked in not even taking off her hoodie. She slid into bed not saying a word, and faced the other way. “Lijh? You okay?” I asked trying to cover up my accent. I had a sinking feeling it annoyed her. I didn’t want to annoy her at all in this moment. She was pissed; I didn’t want to see her set off. I heard her breathe out of her nostrils.

“Yeah.” She murmured in a response. If we had the fan on it would be impossible to hear that murmur, but it was dead silent in here, so I could just barely hear it. I placed my hand on her shoulder and she tensed up sighing an annoyed sigh. I took it off and placed my head on my pillow feeling guilty. I felt bad. I felt like I had somehow made her feel worse.

It took me awhile to fall asleep last night, and for a long time I had lied there listening to Elijah breathe. I knew she hadn’t fallen asleep yet, but it was soft like she was. I knew she probably knew I was awake too, but I didn’t care. It was almost noon now and I was playing on the apartment tablet. There were a few missed calls from Scarlett that hadn’t been answered, because they were from around the time when Elijah hadGriffinwere having their discussion period. I turned around gasping as I heard someone sit on the couch. Elijah sat there with her hair wet from taking a shower and in her outfit with the black tank top with the guns, and the red plaid jeans. I liked that outfit a lot. “You seriously need to stop teleporting and sneaking up on me!” I exclaimed with a laugh catching my breath.

“Actually I didn’t. I just walked down the steps…” She slowly replied laughing.

“You and your cat like stuff.” I murmured trying to beat this level of Angry Birds. The pig on the farthest left in the box would not fucking die!

“No room to talk, Ninja boy.” She replied. I smiled. I was pretty good at that.

“It’s not because I’m Asian!” I exclaimed pretending to be enraged. She busted out laughing. I felt a sense of achievement.

“It’s because you’re Asian.” She replied blandly with a smile on her face. I laughed.

“I’m the sexiest Asian you’ll ever meet.” I told her rubbing the nips for effect. She got up off the couch and walked over to me sitting on the chair and plopped herself down on me.

“True dat.” She replied smirking. She leaned up and kissed me. I sighed a happy sigh and ran my fingers through her wet hair.

“ I keep thinking this is dye.” I told her. She used to always dye her hair funky colors, and now it wasn’t dye. She laughed agreeing. Suddenly a loud knock came from the door. Elijah sprung up; like literally sprung up and unlocked the door. Aiden stood in front of the door with an obvious look of rage planted across him.

“Aiden, what’s wrong?” She exclaimed pushing him inside.

“What a bitch do now?” I exclaimed no shame in my Asian accent. Aiden was my home boy! I hadn’t known him for that long, but he was hilarious!

“Actually, you have it exactly right Akemi.” Aiden exclaimed plopping down on the hard black couch and rubbing his forehead. “I broke up with Elaina.” He told Elijah not looking up.

“Why?” We both exclaimed in shock. Elaina was one of our best friends.

“She cheated on me.Griffinkissed her, and dated her. I don’t give a fuck if she didn’t remember or not. It happened and I can’t get that out of my mind. To think I thoughtGriffinwasn’t a douche bag anymore. When I heard about what happened between you two I thought, that’s a dick move and wasn’t really happy with him. Then he went for my girl too and I was like oh hell no!” Aiden exclaimed looking like he was about to kill a hoard of flying Outcomes. I widened my eyes. What happened toGriffin..? He was one of my best friends… Elijah had her mouth gaped and sighed patting his back.

“It’s okay. It wasn’t her fault, but I understand exactly where you’re coming from.” She told him comforting.

“I was going to do it eventually anyways. We just lost the spark. Or at least I did. She’s heart broken, crying, you need to talk to her. I can’t. It’s just too awkward.” He confessed. Elijah was so surprised at this. So wasI.I thought he was in love with Elaina. Elaina was a hundred percent in love with Aiden. I concluded she had gained up some important memories, but still had big gaps. I was right.

We got to the apartment and Ezekial was comforting Elaina with a large bowl of mint chocolate chip ice-cream, Elijah and Elaina’s favorite. I automatically knew he was troubled about something other than Elaina’s break up. We sat down next to her and Ezekial walked out of the room, into his own bedroom. “What’s up with him?” Elijah asked. She sniffed.

“Griffintold him.” She murmured wiping a tear trying to be cool.

“Don’t be sad because of some asshole guy!” I told her hugging her tight. Elijah joined in.

“He’s one of my best friends, but he was really rude about it. You didn’t deserve to be put in his path of rage. It’s okay. You’re gorgeous and we’re in an apocalypse. Boys are going to be all over you. Trust me…” Elijah murmured. I got slightly annoyed at that remark but kept it to myself. She laughed a little.

“I’m good…” She murmured. “Ezekial is really pissed. You might want to talk to him.” She told Elijah. I knew Ezekial still liked her, but this wasn’t his concern or a reason to be mad at Elijah. She walked in and it was quiet. I really wanted to play some video games, but knew now was not the time. “Have you seenGriffintoday?” She asked worriedly. I shook my head confused. Her eyes widened.

“Why..?” I slowly asked looking around the bedroom. He left. God damn it, he fucking left! I knew it before anyone had even thought it. His X-Box was gone. He would only take that if he was leaving. “He’s gone. He left. Elaina…” I told her comforting, but really I was glad he was gone. He was nothing but trouble. He was one of my best friends. At a point the best of my friends. Now he was an old memory… I fucking hated.
