Walking around at night through the Nevada deserts partly sucked, because it was so freaking hot and the driest place ever. It also was awesome though too, because I had a great group of friends with me. I was in front with Ezekial and Griffin walking beside me. Griffin put his arm around me and gave me his sexy face.
“Nice night, isn’t it?” He asked with a wink. I felt Ezekial’s eyes staring. I put my arm around his waist.
“Yes it is.” I replied with a sly grin. Akemi ran up from behind and pushed Ezekial out of the way and put his arm around me. I put my other arm around Akemi’s waist.
“Hey baby, wanna go to my place?” Akemi asked winking.
“Oh you have a place now? In the middle of barren Nevada?” I asked with a short laugh and a grin.
“Yeah, it’s invisible but has really comfortable beds if you catch my drift.” Akemi pressed, leaning his head on my shoulder.
“Hey back of my girl.” Griffin joked.
“You can join us, Griffin.” Akemi jokingly flirted.
“Well if you insist!” Griffin joked back.
“Oh God, get a room!” Ezekial exclaimed half serious half joking, but I knew he was being serious he just didn’t want to seem annoyed. Did that mean he still had feelings for me? Hardly. Ezekial was a tough book to read sometimes. It was like sometimes he liked you and then he didn’t.
“Jealous Ezekial?” Griffin pressed smirking evilly. I saw Ezekial’s Adam’s apple bob up and down as he swallowed his rage down his throat.
“Oh please.” Ezekial replied rolling his eyes. I raised my eye brows and Griffin and Akemi looked at me as to show the thought he was being crazy.
“So baby, wanna ditch Ezekial and find a secluded place?” Griffin joked.
“I’ll bring fried rice, and sushi.” Akemi played along winking at me. I shrugged.
“Tempting, but I’ll pass for now boys. But later, now that’s a different story.” I finished with a wink. I would have played along but I felt weird next to Ezekial and joking like that. I knew it was getting him annoyed.
“Aw, alright. Guess, I’ll have to wait!” Griffin sighed as well as Akemi. I laughed and let go of there waists. I bounded over to Ezekial who had strayed off a little from the pack, because Griffin and Akemi were being pests.
“Hey girl!” He exclaimed acting like he hadn’t been put in a bad mood at all.
“Hey boy!” I exclaimed back.
“So how was your time with them?” He asked pointing over to Griffin and Akemi who were playing some unknown made up game in the distance. I laughed.
“Entertaining.” I said with a smile.
“Let’s be honest here, do you like either one of them?” He asked me with a small smile but completely serious.”
“Oh no, not like that. Why?” I asked with a slight laugh. Thoughts scrambled in my mind. Was he jealous? Even if he was it shouldn’t matter. There was no way in hell I’d date him right now. There was an apocalypse right now. I didn’t want to get emotionally attached to anything again, but I already screwed that one up. I didn’t want to get romantically attached for sure. If anything happened, I’d loose a team member, a friend, a huge part of me. It would get in the way of my focus and my priorities. Right now, I was a girl looking for her friends and trying to stay alive.
“Just wondering. It just seemed like maybe you weren’t just kidding over there.” He replied with a slight laugh. I gaped my mouth open and laughed.
“Omg, yes, I was just kidding. There only friends.” I exclaimed smiling with my eyes huge.
“Alright, just checking. I wouldn’t want to wakeup to my friends naked.” He joked. I stuck my tongue out in a yuck expression. Really it wasn’t yuck though, they were fine boys. I just didn’t have feelings for them. “So who do you like these days?” He asked nudging my side and staring at me with a smile and his head tilted. Oh God, he liked me. I have seen that look far too many times. That’s the look that says ‘hey I like you and we should make out’. You, you, you, you, you, you, you, oh and did I forget to mention, you? I looked at him. My throat was tight. I didn’t know what to say. I pursed my lips together. Keep it together. There is no time for relationships.
“Eh, no one right now.” I shrugged with a slight smile. He nodded his head and put his hands in his pockets of his blue dusty jeans. “How about you?” I asked.
“No one.” He replied flipping his hair. I knew that was a lie.
“Cool.” I told him. He nodded looking at what was supposed to be the moon but now it was just a grey foggy circle in the sky from all the debris in the atmosphere. I almost fell face first into the ground when someone jumped on my back from behind. Akemi sat his head on my shoulder and kissed my cheek. I knew my cheeks were bright pink now. Ezekials mouth gaped and let out a part laugh, part gasp kind of sound.
“Hey there, Akemi.” I awkwardly greeted him holding his legs to my sides and walking slowly.
“Hello there.” He replied in his high cute Asian accent. I laughed and sat him down.
“My turn!” Griffin called jumping on me. I let out an oof sound. Griffin tilted his head and kissed my other cheek. I laughed and heard Ezekial sigh. I felt kind of bad, but he had to understand right? We couldn’t do this now, or maybe even ever… After last time, I just don’t know what to expect with ‘us’.
“Hey I see a cave!” Ezekial called pushing back his long brown hair from his eyes.
“I have pop up tents we can sleep in, in there!” I exclaimed back. We hurried to the entrance. It was dark and deep. As soon as I stepped in I stepped right back in. There was someone in there. My feet told me. “Guys someone…” I couldn’t even finish my sentence. In front of me a tall, gothic looking boy my age stood in front of me. Eerily familiar. He removed his hands from his eyes after rubbing them a few times and looked at me. I knew him. I knew him far to well. In front of me stood Chase Zaberwockly.
