----Jedidiah----
I was lying back in my gamers chair taking in all my wasted hours on C.O.D. Hardly anyone was on. There was like two other people, but they kept to themselves and I had no clue who they were. My guess was that Griffin’s house got invaded and he was killed so that is why he stopped getting on. It wasn’t like Griffin to stay a day away without C.O.D. I groaned in frustration.
“Crap! I can’t get past that guy.” I shouted at the television. This was my third time trying to kill Bowser on Super Mario Galaxy. I beat it before, I could beat it again. My ears almost perked up it seemed when I heard the door open upstairs. Crap, crap, crap. Outcomes or Hazmat team, one of them was inside. I picked up my rifle from the side of the chair and slowly crept around the side of the stair case.
“Hello, Jedidah are you in here?” A female’s voice rang. They were young and it sounded somewhat familiar, but I knew it was just my mind playing tricks on me. It was a government worker for sure. The basement door creaked open, but no one stood in the crack. They were smart. “It’s me, Elijah.” The girl whispered. I dropped my gun foolishly. It couldn’t be. Everyone was dead or taken. I whipped it back up and focused almost shooting when the door opened and I saw her face. I was legit a nanosecond from shooting her, but my body was on time with my mind for once I my life and I dropped my gun entirely. Huge grins spread across our face instantly and she barreled down the stairs as I clambered up them. We viciously hugged each other like we hadn’t seen each other in years. Well actually, we hadn’t seen each other since a year ago. She was exclaiming in happiness. Was she, crying? At last I reluctantly let go of her and she wiped a single tear of joy from her right eye still smiling huge.
“You’re alive” She exclaimed still in shock.
“How did you find me?” I asked in the same shock.
“You’re my best friend; I figured you’d do something stupid like stay in your house.” She told me smiling.
“You know me so well.” I whispered smiling back. “I’m so glad I was stupid for once.” I told her. She laughed. She was ecstatic to find me, and the feeling was one thousand percent mutual. The front door opened again and I gasped about to grab my rifle.
“No, don’t worry!” She told me turning around. Footsteps ran to the door way and in front of my stair case were Griffin, Ezekial, and Akemi. Oh, I see how important I was, finding me last.
“I see how it is.” I told her squinting.
“No! They were closer to me!” She defensively said.
“The next town over was closer?” I sarcastically asked her.
“I drove out of state after the apocalypse started and was constantly on the move for a year, and by the time I noticed they were still alive I assumed Ezekial had probably fled to California, his dream city, and I was inNew Mexicoat the time so he was closer. They were all living together.” I told him.
“Gay!” I exclaimed. She laughed.
“Only sometimes.” Griffin joked.
“Oh?” I played along. “So you walked all the way back to Missouri to find me?” I asked not believing it.
“Partly walked, flew, and drove.” She said with a smile.
“Flew?” I confusedly asked. All the airlines were shut down. Griffin and Ezekial floated down towards me answering my question.
