Subject: The meeting

----Elijah----

I woke up late to Akemi’s arm strung across my face. I threw it back over to him and he let out a tired moan. I decided I’d let him have his lazy day since yesterday was crazy. I needed mine today, so I slept in late. I opened up my bag that now had all my stuff back inside of it and pulled out my black skeleton sweatshirt and my dark blue ripped acid skinnies. I had taken a long, and I do mean long, shower last night. I felt so good this morning. My hair seemed thicker than usual and it was probably because my hair was damp when I went to bed last night. I clunked out of the bedroom and transported through the house, now filled with cats again, into town with Maple following me through the doorway. I heard my mom and sister checked in from Scarlett at nine since she inconsiderately decided to call my tablet this morning while I was in good sleep. I strolled over to the apartment they had been set to and clanked through the expensive penthouse lobby to the elevator.

The apartment building was identical to mine and only a few blocks away. I knocked on 6-J and an excited sprint came across the marble flooring to the door. I heard the door unlatch and Avi appeared. She hugged my stomach so hard I thought I’d fall backwards. It had been so long since I’d seen my little sister. Her hair was a dark brown mess and she had on hideous clothing since she never really cared about how she dressed, and a huge smile.

“Avi, I’m so glad you’re okay.” I told her hugging her tight.

“It was awful. Thank you, thank you so much.” Avi cried from remembering the fatal and excruciating sites from the camp.

“Where’s mom?” I asked cautiously.

“She’s in the kitchen.” Avi replied recollecting herself and wiping a stray tear from her eye. I rushed into the kitchen to see mom standing there making pancakes.
“Finally you show up. Sleep much?” She teased. I hugged her and she hugged me back, nearly dropping the batter down my hair, but saved it just in time.

“I am so glad you guys are okay. You toughened through so much.” I told her sincerely while fighting back hot tears burning at my corneas.

“It’s really thanks to you and your friends that we’re here. I am so, so, so, proud of you Elijah.” My mom told me gently while stroking my wavy red hair. I let go of her and smiled. “The chocolate chip one is yours.” She told me. I brought my arm down in a ‘yes!’ motion. “So are you dating anyone? Jedidiah? I saw him earlier.” My mom curiously pushed. I laughed a little embarrassed.

“Actually yeah, but not Jedidiah. I’m dating Akemi.” I told her smiling.

“The Asian?” My sister asked confused walking in.

“Yeah, see funny thing is, radiation made him smart.” I told them in amazement. My mom made a facial expression like ‘hmm whoa’ and my sister thought I was joking. “No for real.” I told her.

“Wow.” Avi said.

“So where is your apartment?” Mom asked.

“Actually it’s like six blocks over and me and Akemi are staying there. Elaina and Brooklyn have Ezekial andGriffin’s old apartment before they ditched out on us. Gah, so much has happened. You have no idea. I’m a cat!” I told them rambling on about my life.

“You live with Akemi? Are you staying protected?” My mom exclaimed with disappointment and disgust in her voice.

“Mom! I’m fourteen! I’m not doing anything, God! Gross!” I exclaimed shocked by her accusation.
