----Ezekial----

After I had slammed the window to my bedroom earlier today I flew over to Jamie’s window and she invited me in. She had asked me, and I quote, “What the fuck is wrong with you?” I would have expected that to have made me feel worse, but actually it made me smile. I told her we were leaving and she was so happy, and she pulled her clothes out of her drawers, into a black leather suitcase, and we were gone.

Did I regret leaving? Of course in some ways. I was happy though. Jamie was so beautiful. Her long thick wavy brown hair cascaded around her brown leather cut off sleeved jacket. Her eyes were huge with excitement; something I saw in Elijah’s many, so many times before. Something I saw inGriffin’s when he got excited or found out some new kind of juicy information. Thinking of them hurt, so I placed them to the side.

I was on my way toLiberty Islandto see if this dream was a hoax. Jamie was in my arms and everything was awesome. “What are you thinking about?” I asked her.

“How great it’s going to be to start a real career. We will finally be able to make something out of nothing!” She exclaimed in awe. I smiled at her passion. It radiated off her like the sun’s heat. “What are you thinking about?” She asked looking into my brown eyes.

“How much I want to kiss you right now.” I said with a smirk and leaned down to kiss her soft pale pink lips. They were gentle tinted with mystery and it had me intoxicated. We broke apart and she wrapped her long guitar player fingers across my large hands.

“What are we Ezekial?” She asked with a serious look dawning upon her gentle features. I raised my eyebrows in surprise. I thought she was the one who hadn’t wanted to be with me. If I had known all this time she wanted to be more than friends, I would have asked her out! Well… not all this time. It’s been like three days… Was I rushing things? No, this was a feeling I hadn’t felt in a long time. I mean I dated other girls, but nothing serious.

“I want to be your boyfriend…” I awkwardly said not knowing what she wanted for sure.

“Oh, well I want you to be too.” She said biting her lip and we sealed the deal with a kiss.

The air was dirty through this part ofTennessee. We were flying through theSmokyMountainsand dirty fog hung high. Outcomes weren’t native to the mountains. Cold and hot climates didn’t work for them. They couldn’t survive with there limited brain cells and frail structures. It was getting late and my backpack was getting heavy on my shoulders and my arms felt loose.

“We better land  or I might end up dropping you.” I told her with that dumb toothy smile.

“Is that a fat joke?” She played.

“Yes, because you are a whale.” I sarcastically said.

“I know.” She sang jokingly as she stretched her back and I couldn’t help but glance down. Force of habit from hanging out withGriffin, but nice... I landed adequately on the dry forest floor. I wondered how the other countries were holding up. Ours was mostly dead. The only places with life still present were the water bordered states and a few other areas such asColoradoand the areas near theMississippi river. The fruit that grew on the trees were inedible though since it has been soaking up radioactive water. I’m sure I’d be fine if I ate some of it since I was a mutant, but I’d stick to canned food. Just picture your house and the lawn and all the trees around it. Now imagine your house stained with dirt and debris that has been blown through the wind and fallen in roofs from the wait of the debris or the failure of the wood that held your house together due to termite damage or just the intense amount of radioactive material eating it away. Picture all your trees fallen over on the ground bent in un-proportional ways and all the leaves are gone and there are large damaging natural holes in the trees from the toxins. Imagine looking out your window and instead of seeing grass you see dried mud ground like you see in the desert or if you have grass it is dried up and frail that breaks with just a gust of the wind. It’s like a volcano had erupted and this was the outcomes of it but instead of coated in ash and burned were coated in blown around dirt and debris and fallen apart. Instead of looking up at the sky and seeing the sunrays shine beneath the clouds, the sky is a mixture of yellowish brown clouds from all the debris, dirt, and chemicals spread into our atmosphere. No more counting stars or taking out your telescope. It got dark at eight, it stayed dark until eight. Eight was the dark and dawn. It never changed. It was twelve hours of complete darkness.
