Vale's P.O.V.

"Confer on you both the level of Jedi Knight the council does."

Yoda declares as he paces slowly in front of us. Obi-Wan and I are kneeling before him in a room in Naboo's castle. The day after we took back Naboo; Yoda, Mace and a few others from the Jedi council came.

The Leaders of the Federation were escorted off the system to be dealt with in the supreme court. Mace Windu is talking with Padme and Boss Nass about what has transpired in the last 24 hours. Yoda is holding a meeting between the three of us about the event that took place yesterday.

"... But, agree with you taking this boy as a Padawan learner..." Yoda announces while stopping to face Obi-Wan. "I do not."

"Qui-Gon believed in him." Obi-Wan points out honestly and I confess after him. "Anakin could not be in better hands than Kenobi's."

"The chosen one, the boy may be... As Vale could be..." Yoda admits and nods slowly, pointing on seriously. "Nevertheless, grave danger I fear in his training."

"Master Yoda, I gave Qui-Gon my word." Obi-Wan declares in a stern voice. "I will train Anakin." Glancing at me, Obi-Wan sighs, knowing what he must say. Without an ounce of doubt, Obi-Wan states to Yoda. "Without the approval of the Council, if I must."

"Qui-Gon's defiance I sense in you." Yoda sighs frustratedly before pacing again. "Need that you do not."

Obi-Wan and I share a look, knowing this is the first time Obi-Wan has said something like that to the council. I've said nothing like that out loud, but I've had my far share of defiance. Yet, somehow I don't see this as a defiance from Obi-Wan.

I see it as a promise he plans to complete for his master. This is probably the most noble thing I've seen Kenobi do and I've seen him do the most to be righteous. I'm sure Master Yoda sees it too. He has to understand.

"Agree with you, the council does." Yoda finally reveals in defeat after thinking it over. "Your apprentice Skywalker will be."

Obi-Wan nods in thanks as Yoda walks toward the front doors of the room. We stand up together, and send one another looks from everything that has transpired in this meeting. Yoda is about to open the door to leave when he turns around to face us.

"Help you along the way, Valera will." He points to me sternly before confessing. "The chosen one, we still suspect, she is."

~Qui-Gon Funeral~

Everyone surrounds a bonfire with Qui-Gon's body in the center. It's a proper funeral ceremony in the Jedi Code. It's evening, but everyone in the city is awake to honor Master Qui-Gon.

The people who knew of his name and him as a friend stand around the fire. People who heard of what he's done for Naboo stand yards away to commend him. I stand beside Obi-Wan and Padme in front of the fire.

Padme's in her royal attire and I'm in a dark grey dress one of her handmaiden gave me for the ceremony. However, Obi-Wan is in his usual Jedi clothing, like the rest of the council. Padme's advisors, handmaiden, and guard surround the fire with us.

The council stands behind Obi-Wan, Padme and me in silence. Anakin is beside Obi-Wan in the same clothing he was in on Tatooine. My father is a few feet away from us, watching the flames consume Qui-Gon's body.

"What will happen to me now?"

I hear Anakin mumble to Obi-Wan in fear of losing Qui-Gon. I glance at Obi-Wan before meeting eyes with Anakin. Biting my bottom lip, I turn back to face the bonfire.
