Aegon "Alex" Targaryen
After meeting the representative, I walk with Daenerys through the camp. Barristan is walking with us as we talk about what happened. Jorah is off scouting out the Second Sons at the request of Daenerys. I wonder how Daenerys will react to Daario and his obvious interest in Daenerys. I don't really like the way he handles it, but I have zero experience in wooing a woman. What works and doesn't, I have no clue.
"Ser, could you go to the leaders after Jorah returns with information about their army? I want their loyalty, we need to be fast," Daenerys says. Barristan nods. "As you command, but I am not certain how much trust we can place in them. Sellswords aren't the most trustworthy people," Barristan says. Daenerys sighs a bit. "What do you know of them?" She asks. Barristan shrugs. "Not much, only heard that some sons of nobles with no inheritance go to join their ranks," he says. "And you Alex? Did the rumors you heard say anything?"
"There's not much I know. I only know that they are mainly led by Mero of Bravoos. I believe that his close associates are Prendahl na Ghezn, and Daario Naharis. Aside from that, I don't really know anything else about the company," I say. Daenerys nods as she thinks for a moment. "Would they consider joining my side?" She asks us both. "Perhaps with enough incentive, Your Grace. It's hard to say," Barristan says in response. "I tend to share his opinion. They care about themselves and their reputation mostly," I added.
Daenerys stops walking for a moment and Barristan and I stop to look at her. Daenerys turns her attention to me. "I guess we will find out soon enough. Alex, I think you were surprised by what Missandei said. It may be sudden for you, but you are a prince and my only known family. It makes you my heir... Even so, I will not force this on you. If you wish, I will figure something else out," she says sincerely. Barristan turns to look at me, curious to see what I will say.
I sigh. "If it makes things easier for you. I should accept my responsibility but I hope you can show me what to do. It's not something I have any experience in, leading a potential country." Daenerys smiles. "Alex, this is not about me. I am flattered that you prioritize me above yourself, but think about what you want. It's your decision, think about it and let me know," she says. I smile softly and nod. "I will, thank you."
Barristan seems to approve of me taking my time to decide. He turns to Daenerys once more. "I will prepare for my departure to the leaders, Your Grace. When I have their response, I will inform you," he says while bowing slightly. "Thank you, Ser. Take some Unsullied with you if you have need of extra support," she says. Barristan bows once more and leaves us alone. Daenerys motions for me to follow her.
"Alex, I like to know what you want to achieve here in this world. Do you want to stay and build a life here, or... do you want to go home?" She asks me. I can't help but notice the slight hesitance about mentioning me going home. She seems to dislike the idea. I find it heartwarming to hear that she values my company. "As you know, I don't have much here in terms of personal memories. I share your goal of freeing the world of slavery. It is something I like to see happen. As for going home... I don't think that is possible. It's something I have to make peace with. That'll be hard, very hard if I am honest. I left a lot of friends and family behind," I say emotionally and with a wavering voice.
Daenerys smiles sadly at me. "I can't imagine what it's like, but know that I am here to help you. As it turns out, we are family and, for whatever it's worth, I am happy to have you. You are a good man with good intentions. I can't ask for more," she says. I smile as she says it. "No one has accepted me so easily, Dany. I'm happy to hear it, truly." Daenerys smiles as well. "Good. Come let's walk around and enjoy the moment of respite before duty calls once again." I chuckle and we both walk around, talking for the remainder of the afternoon.
