Aegon Targaryen
The fleet has grown massively with the addition of the Greyjoys. It is hard to see the end of the armada. The sight is even more impressive when you see the three large dragons flying overhead. Any normal person would turn around and run away. At least that is what I would do if I had to fight Daenerys.
We have been sailing for a couple of months and are nearing the Disputed Lands. Daenerys agreed to meet there with the Golden Company. Also, Margeary informed us that an envoy of Dorne will rendezvous with us there to go to Dragonstone. It looks like Dorne and the Reach will support us in this world again.
I glance around one more time. Hundreds of ships sail within this armada. Sails are painted with the Targaryens sigil and some with the Kraken of House Greyjoy. I turn around and walk towards Yara and Daenerys. The ship I am on is busy. Many sailors are doing various duties on the ships; adjusting the sails, readjusting robes, and several other things. I walk up the few wooden steps and see Yara and Daenerys overlooking a map.
"How long before we arrive?" I ask them. "The winds have been favorable so far. If it stays that way we should arrive in a few hours," Yara says as she scans me over, "I heard you will be fighting to earn the trust of the Golden Company. That will be something to see." Daenerys sighs as she hears it. Her belly has grown significantly over the past months. I hope she won't give birth on sea, but somehow her being pregnant enhances her beauty.
"I hope you are ready, love. Don't get killed," Daenerys says. "Have you seen him spar? Aegon is good. I think only his uncle could match him with the spear and that Unsullied fellow," Yara says, smiling at us. "I suppose... I will still worry about it, though," she says. "It will be alright. I bested Grey Worm a few times. Whoever I will be fighting will not be as though as him. It took me more than a year to be good enough to beat Grey Worm."
Another sigh leaves Daenerys and walks towards me. One of her hand reaches for mine and takes hold of it. "You better make me proud, Alex. If you are so good, then you only need a few minutes," Daenerys says, softly smirking at me. "No pressure," I chuckle. "Well, better get ready, Aegon. Vollatis is in sight," Yara says and motions to the horizon.
On the horizon, a small city can be seen. It is not large, and it can barely be qualified as a city. Although, considering the amount of fighting that happens in this part of Essos... it is a wonder that a city grew this large. "Love, please come with me. I have something to give to you," Daenerys says. Yara seems to be smirking. I look at her curiously. "My lips are sealed, Your Grace. You will love what she has gotten for you," Yara says.
Well, I am definitely curious now. I stay close to Daenerys as she leads me down towards our cabin. We pass a few cramped spaces before we finally reach our room. The two knights kept a watch to protect Rhaella in case someone tries to kill her. As they see me, a soft smile starts to form on their faces. Daenerys opens the door and enters while the two knights bow their heads' polity.
When I enter the room, I see Daenerys walking toward the middle of the room. As my gaze follows the path of Daenerys, I eventually see an armor. It is made of Grey Steel pieces but unlike a traditional armor of a knight it looks to be very flexible. On the torso, many small pieces of metal form a cohesive whole. It resembles the scales of a dragon in a way. The legs consist of gray metal greaves and cuisses. Furthermore, a chain mail protects other parts alongside steel vambraces. It is perfect for a fast moving fighter.
"I had this made for you, Alex. May it protect you in the coming fight and in the future," Daenerys says as a hand touches the armor. She turns to look at me. I am very touched by the gift. It is clear Daenerys spend a lot of money on it to make sure all important areas of the body are protected. "Do you like it?" she asks. I softly laugh. "I love it, Dany. Thank you, I better win now."
The ship of Yara docked at the harbor of the city while the rest stayed out on sea. It was simply because there is not enough room. As I disembark with Daenerys, Yara, and the two knights, I start to look around. The city is clearly more focused on practicality than beauty. High and thick walls, stone buildings in simple shapes, and a sizeable guard presence. "Did they say where they will meet us?" I ask Daenerys.
"Near the north gate. They have a camp there, I believe," Daenerys says. "Well, let's get this over with," I say and start to make my way to the camp. Aside from Yara and the knights, a large group of Unsullied walk with us. I think close to a hundred men with Grey Worm leading them.
The people that we come across look at us with suspicion. A lot of people are murmuring with each other about what we want or who we are working for. It is not the kind of suspicion associated with unfriendliness, but more of a long sigh about constant wars, I think. I wonder for how long these lands have been fought over.
Eventually, we reach the gate and when we go through it, it does not take long before we see a well-organized camp. Many golden colored flags flap in the wind, and in the middle I notice a similar colored tent. When we reach the entrance of the camp, we are stopped by two soldiers on guard duty. Their armor have a golden shine to them, and definitely of high quality. As the camp is closer, one can easily see that it is done with care and order. Unlike the Second Sons, these men are highly disciplined.
"State your names and business," one of the soldiers says to us. "Daenerys Stormborn and Aegon of House Targaryen, rightful Queen and King of the Seven kingdoms. We are here for the Golden Rite," Daenerys says. They share a glance with each other before they start to speak. "Inform, the Captain-General," the same man says to his comrade before turning to us again, "Your Grace, follow me, but your men must stay behind."
"My Queensguard stays with me, as will my commander," Daenerys says. The man contemplates for a moment as he looks at the two knights. "Very well. The rest stays," he relents and starts to leads us deeper into the camp. Several patrols guard the perimeter, and the ones in camp can easily jump into action. It is no wonder they are considered to be the strongest sellsword company. Discipline and structure breeds success.
After passing many rows of tents, we eventually end up in an open space. The man leading us turns to us once again. "Wait here till the Captain-General arrives. You will be watched," he says before leaving us. It is just as he says. On the sidelines of the open space, numerous soldiers are watching us. In a quick glance, I count at least twenty.
"Are you ready, love?" Daenerys asks. I nod as I stretch a bit with my arms. "I am. I will make you proud, Dany," I say and turn to look at Grey Worm. "And you too, Grey Worm." A small smile forms on Grey Worm. It is the first time I have seen him smile. We turn around to see three people approach us
