Today Michael was very excited to go to school. He wasn't normally very excited to go to school but today was different.
Today his class was having an auction. Each kid earns class dollars every time they do something that the teacher wants them to do. For example, Michael earned five class dollars after he helped his teacher carry a bunch of papers. He also earned class dollars from doing his weekly job he gets in class. His personal favorite was line leader.
Michael had been very smart about his plan for the class auction. He had saved up every single class dollar he earned and didn't use them on any of the previous auctions. He had well over one hundred class dollars at this point.
"Alright, this Spider-Man lego set. Five dollars." His teacher, Miss Pam called out. "Five dollars!" Michael placed his bid. "Going once, going twice, sold! What a deal! Michael getting the Spider-Man lego set!" His teacher cheered, handing him the lego set. It wasn't anything big but he would definitely have fun with it when he got home.
"Next up, a mystery bag." Miss Pam announced while showing off the brown paper bag. "Ten dollars!" Ben called out. "Fifteen!" Another boy shouted. "Twenty!" A girl shouted. "Fourty!" Daniel announced, and nobody decided to outbid him. "Sold! For fourty class dollars!" Miss Pam declared, giving Daniel the mystery bag.
"Next up, a gum coupon! You can chew gum all week in class. And an unlimited supply of gum for the week!" Miss Pam announced while showing off the coupon. That one ended up going for thirty dollars but Michael didn't buy it. He didn't really like gum.
"Another mystery bag!" Miss Pam showed, all the children making bids back and forth. "Twenty dollars!" Michael decided, and nobody said anything else. "Sold! Michael you are going all out today!" Miss Pam announced. Michael took his mystery bag and opened it, seeing a bunch of candy and the biggest squishmallow that could fit in the bag.
"Okay, this is a very popular item... you can have popcorn and a drink in class this week." Miss Pam shared, showing the popcorn bag. This treat ended up going to a very nice girl named Lily.
"I have a feeling a certain someone is really going to like this one... a Spider-Man squishmallow." Miss Pam announced and held it up. "Ten dollars!" Michael shouted. "Twenty dollars!" Another boy shouted. "Twenty five!" Michael decided. "Thirty!" The boy challenged. "Fourty!" Michael announced. The other boy didn't say anything else and Michael ended up winning.
"Sold! Michael, you are really buying everything today! This is certainly a change!" Miss Pam cheered. Michael paid her his class dollars and saw he only had about fifty dollars left. That's when he decided to stop bidding.
"I saved up all my dollars and then I got all the biggest prizes." Michael told his teacher and showed her his haul that was on his desk. "Good job!" She complimented. A few more items were shown and Michael didn't bid on any of them, letting other kids get things.
When (Y/n) came to pick up Michael from school he saw Michael had a whole extra bag with him. Miss Pam had graciously given Michael a spare reusable grocery bag for him to take all of his auction stuff home in. "What did you get?" He asked his son as they walked home from school. "We had a class auction and I saved up all my class dollars for today! And I got so much stuff!" He told his dad.
Emma was reading her book in the living room when Michael and (Y/n) arrived home. "We're home!" (Y/n) called out as they entered the house. "Hi!" Emma shouted while walking into the entryway. "Michael went all out today during his class auction." (Y/n) told his wife after he caught her looking at the extra bag.
"What did you win?" Emma asked and Michael took his bag into the living room to show her. "I got a Lego set!" Michael told her while taking the lego set out of the bag. Emma looked at it before nodding and letting him continue. "I got a mystery bag." He told her while taking the brown paper bag out. Emma looked through it and saw a bunch of candy and a small dog squishmallow.
"And then I got this!" Michael finished while taking the Spider-Man squishmallow out. "That's so cool! You won a lot of stuff!" Emma cheered. "Which one's your favorite?" (Y/n) asked. "Um...the Spider-Man." Michael told him while showing off his Spider-Man squishmallow.
Tonight Florence was coming over for dinner and Michael saved his lego set so they could build it together. Once Florence got there he took her up to his bedroom and they built his lego set together.
"And I got a Spider-Man squishmallow too. That one's my favorite." Michael told his aunt while he built the rest of his lego set. "That's very cool. You have such a fun teacher!" Florence told him.
When it was time for Michael to go to bed he made sure he had his Spider-Man squishmallow right next to him. He definitely made the right choice to save all of his class dollars. He was already looking forward to the next auction.
(Inspired by a teacher I saw on tiktok who does class auctions with her students! But also today is the first anniversary of my Emma Watson oneshot books! One year ago today I had officially published book one, not thinking anyone would read it. And I love how wrong I was! Thank you to everyone who has read my books, it truly means a lot to me!)
