Kai felt dizzy the moment he opened his eyes and got to his feet.
To keep from falling, he held onto the door with his left hand.
Kai noticed the bandages wrapped around his arm.
A painful memory flashed through his mind, and he collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.
Kai gasped for air, unable to steady his breathing.
Vin, shirtless from working out nearby, rushed in when he heard Kai collapse.
"Kai, what's wrong? Talk to me."
Vin gently shook Kai, and he snapped out of it, regaining control of his breathing.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm good. Just need a second."
"Care to explain why you were on the floor, looking like you'd just faced death?"
Kai placed his hand on his head.
"My head started spinning, and I lost my balance."
Vin gave Kai a reassuring smile.
"Try to relax. You've been asleep for quite a while."
"With all this darkness outside, it's hard to tell. Vin, what is this place?"
"Hahaha! What, are you scared of a little darkness, big guy?"
"I'm not afraid of the dark."
Vin walked over to the wardrobe in Kai's room and started selecting outfits for both himself and Kai.
"Kai, what do you like to wear?"
"I'm not sure. Just comfortable clothes for fighting."
"This tracksuit should be perfect for you."
Vin handed Kai a green tracksuit while he wore his usual outfit: a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, black pants, and black ankle boots.
Kai hadn't been paying attention before, but now that he was, he noticed Vin's scars.
"I was just wondering how you got all your scars."
"These old scars are from a battle with a beast with four arms."
"Agh... Do creatures like that really exist?"
"Hahaha! You should see your expression. It's priceless."
When Kai's excitement got the best of him, he looked like an idiot.
But aside from the scars, he also noticed that Vin had a few noticeable tattoos.
Vin was much shorter than Kai, despite being the older of the two.
He had a powerful physique, a sharp nose, an oval face, and cauliflower ears.
His right fingers have the letters 'EXIST' tattooed, starting at the thumb, while his left hand has a heartbeat line tattooed.
He also has a tattoo in an ancient, runic language on the right side of his abdomen.
Both his forearms and calves were marked with thick black rings of ink.
After changing, Vin went back to the wardrobe and grabbed two backpacks.
"Can you tell me what these backpacks are for?"
Vin's expression grew serious as he slowly walked toward Kai.
"What's wrong, Vin?"
"Shhhh..."
Vin took a device from his backpack, entered a code, and scanned Kai's band watch.
