Countdown to the finals.....

Zeru and May walked together to the dining hall, where the rest of the Water Clan team had already started breakfast.

"Zeru, over here. Come sit next to me."

When Zeru looked at May, he could see her jaw tighten, her eyes narrowing with barely contained frustration.

It was clear she didn't agree with the other girl's statement.

May grabbed Zeru's arm, pulling him away from the girl who was still calling his name, her voice fading away.

May sat across from the girl, their eyes locked in a silent standoff until the maiden stepped in.

"What do you want to eat?"

The girl ordered first, her voice sharp and quick. May followed, her tone calm but firm.

"I'll have black tea with toasted bread, avocado slices, and cheese on top."

"And you, Zeru?"

"I just want a glass of water and a couple of boiled eggs."

"All right, I'll be back with your meals in just a few minutes."

The maid returned to the kitchen to prepare the meals, bringing them out a few minutes later.

May and the girl kept their eyes locked on each other the entire time they ate.

"Are you two dating? You've been spending a lot of time together lately."

May jumped, spilling her tea in surprise as the girl's loud words made everyone at the table turn to stare.

"What? We're... w... we're just friends."

"You say you're just friends, but why are you blushing?"

"No, I'm not! I just drank my tea too quickly... and it was boiling."

"Whatever you say, May. I see what you're up to, and I'm not letting you win."

"Keep dreaming."

May and the girl both looked away, eating quietly alongside the other participants before leaving the dining hall to prepare for the finals.

Once breakfast was over, Zeru and May walked along the coast, the warmth of the sun on their skin and a cool breeze against their faces, both of them feeling refreshed.

"This might be the last time we walk along this stunning coastline."

Zeru pointed at the sky.

"We're meant to be up there, in that floating city. It's where we'll live for the rest of our lives."

"Sigh... I wish I had the same courage as you."

"Don't worry about anything. I'll come out on top for both of us."

May looked away from the waves crashing in and out of the Dead Sea, feeling a quiet surge of confidence in his words.

"I wish he were here with us right now."

May got no response from Zeru.

He simply turned away and left, leaving her alone with nothing but the sound of the black waves crashing against the shore of Waena Island.
