Chapter 35

Katniss's POV:

"Really?" I say.

"Yes. Your about 2 weeks along. Congratulations!"

The doctor walks out of the room leaving Peeta and I to be alone.

"Oh my gosh Katniss! This is great!"

"I know!"

I  jump into his arms and kiss him passionately.

He sets me down back on the ground as he puts his hand on my stomach.

"Hi baby! I'm your daddy and we're going to take such good care of you!"

I put my hand over his and then Peeta plants a small kiss on my stomach.

"I love you Peeta."

"I love you too!" 

He leans towards me and we kiss softly.

I feel tears coming down my cheeks.

"Katniss, why are you crying?"

"I'm happy! We're going to be a family!"

I wrap my arms around his neck and hug him tightly.

The doctor comes back into the room.

"Well now that we know that your expecting, let's take a look at the baby."

I lay down as he puts the gel on my stomach.

I take Peeta's hand as we look at the screen.

I see a tiny figure, the size of a peanut in the middle of the screen as Peeta kisses my hand.

"Your baby looks healthy. Just come back in a month and a half when your two months along and we will check again. Okay?"

"Okay. Thank you so much." says Peeta.

We walk hand and in hand out of the doctor's office and head into the car.

"So when do you want to tell everyone?" asks Peeta.

"Let's wait until after our second appointment when I'm 2 months pregnant to make sure the baby's doing okay."

"Okay. Do you want to find out the gender?" asks Peeta.

"Yeah I would prefer to do that, but it's not until I'm 5 months along."

"Okay. I'm so excited and happy."

"Me too!"

We then drive back to the house.
