Chapter 36

Katniss's POV:

1 and a Half Months Later...

I am now two months pregnant and we are about to leave for my second appointment with the doctor.

"Katniss are you ready?" Peeta asks from downstairs as I'm upstairs getting ready.

"Yes I'll be right down!"

I walk down the stairs and meet Peeta at the door.

"Hey honey how are you feeling?"

"I'm doing fine, just a little nauseous."

"Well it'll all be fine when this little baby is born, " Peeta says while gently laying his hands on my stomach.

"Well we have to go or else we're going to be late!" I say.

I kiss Peeta gently as we leave the house to go to the doctors.

Once we get there we're walked into an office.

The doctor walks in and asks us some questions.

"So how has it been going with your pregnancy?"

"Just some morning sickness so far," I say.

"Okay that's great! Let's take a look."

He puts some gel on my stomach and on the screen shows a little baby the size of a walnut now instead of a peanut. I now have a tiny little bump.

Then, we hear the heartbeat. It soft but we can still hear it.

"Your baby looks perfectly healthy! Would you guys be interested in knowing the gender?"

"Yes."

"Well when you come back in three months when your five months along we should be able to know if it's a girl or a boy."

"Thank you so much!" says Peeta.

"Your welcome!"

The doctor leaves and then Peeta and I talk.

"I can't wait for this little baby," says Peeta.

"Me neither! Do you want to go home and invite everyone over to tell them the news?"

"Sure let's go!"

I kiss Peeta and he kisses back as we leave the office to go back home. Once we get home, we call Annie and her son, Haymitch, Katniss's Mom, Effie, Johanna, Beetee, and Plutarch.

A little while later, they all come in the house.

"Why did you invite us over?" asks Johanna.

They all sit down and Peeta and I stand in front of everyone.

I take Peeta's hand as I say, "we have some news for everyone."

"What is it?" asks Beetee.

"Katniss is expecting. We're going to be parents!" says Peeta.

"Congratulations star-crossed lovers!" says Haymitch.

"Thanks!"

"No little Finnie will have some friends to play with! Congrats!"

"How far along are you?" asks Effie.

"Two months!"

"This is amazing!" says Effie.

"I'm going to be a grandmother!" says my mom.

We all sit in the living room talking for the rest of the afternoon.
