Val POV
I woke up the next morning in a jittery blissfulness. The way Marshall interacts with me is something I've never experienced before. His voice is so low and smooth, and when he touches me, I feel fire beneath my skin. I wasn't planning on getting in a relationship at this time, but the feelings I had for Marshall are something I've never felt before. I couldn't even describe it. I've never had somebody care for me like this or tell me how beautiful I am all the time.
I rolled out of bed, looked in the mirror and liked the image that stared back. Even if I just woke up. I smiled and whipped my hair around.
"Mommy!"
My daughters were up so I had to make breakfast for us, then help them to brush their teeth and get dressed.
I played outside with my little girls for most of the morning. I had gotten them a kiddie bowling set and Cassaundra had fun knocking the pins down and setting them back up again. Bella and I just sat there on a blanket playing with other toys I had brought with. It wasn't long until I got a text from Marshall. It was Sunday, and I knew he was spending it with his daughters later.
M: Good Morning Gorgeous! I thought about you all night long
V: Good morning hunny! And you just made me smile!
M: Good! I like when you're happy!
Come over this afternoon. Bring the girls!
I love the sense of family I've felt from Marshall right from the start. We both met each other's kids quite quickly, but it wasn't weird or awkward at all. His two oldest were already adults and Whitney was a teenager, and they seem to approve of their dad starting a relationship with someone who has children. They were just more positive people to introduce into my daughters' lives. There can't be anything bad about that.
I brought my daughters over to Marshall's later in the day and saw both Laney and Hailie's cars parked in the driveway. Cassaundra and Bella like Marshall's daughters and look up to them. I think my girls are starting to take a shine to Marshall as well. Bella recognizes him and smiles when she sees him, and he picks her up and talks to her. Marshall plays with Cassaundra and is always so nice to her. I love that about him.
"Hey! We have a surprise for you!" Whitney ran over to my daughters and smiled when we entered the door.
Marshall's daughters greeted me then took my little girls' hands to lead them to the kitchen where Marshall was standing, and he smiled when we came in the room. They had made an ice cream sundae bar! It was even healthy. Strawberries, blackberries, bananas, and then some chocolate chips, sprinkles, and whipped cream. Cassaundra squealed in delight.
Laney smiled widely at her, "And you told me you wanted to see the new Jungle Book. So, get some ice cream and let's go watch it down in the theatre room!"
"Can we?!" Cassaundra looked to me.
"Of course, baby." I went over to help her not to make a total mess and smiled at Marshall as I did.
Marshall POV:
I love to stand back and watch Valentina be a mother. She's independent, she don't even need a man. Val keeps a roof over their heads, makes dinner every day, gets up mad early, deals with demons of her past, takes care of two kids, and manages to look good while she's doing it. That's just the kind of woman I want, the woman I need in my life.
Once we got the little girls situated, my daughters led them downstairs to the theatre room. They got along so well. Like sisters.
"We'll be right there!" I called down after them, then turned to Val standing there in the kitchen. "C'mere you."
I swooped my arms around her from behind and kissed her head, making my way down to her neck, "This was all Laney's idea to invite you guys over." I spoke lightly in her ear.
Val turned in my arms and was all smiles, "It was so sweet. I'm glad she wants to include us in your family day."
We stared in each other's eyes for a moment and when she ran her fingers over my hair and down my neck, I leaned in for a deep kiss.
"She likes your kids, baby. And I think she did it just so her old man could see his woman."
We let go of each other to get our own ice cream.
"I tell the girls you're my special friend." Val told me through a shy smile as she made her sundae.
I laughed hard, "Your special friend? That's so cute." I was being sarcastic, but it really was cute as shit. I grabbed Val and pulled her in again for a hug. I liked her so much, I couldn't stop touching her.
"Is that bad?" She asked against my ear.
"Nah, of course not. They're your daughters' baby." I kissed her forehead. "You can tell them whatever you want to."
Our lips met and when I ran my tongue against Valentina's lips, she let me in. I placed my hand on the back of her head to deepen it. I ran my hands all over her back as I kissed her and immediately thought about the previous night. Me, getting to touch her just a bit more than I ever had before. And she liked it.
I stood back and looked at Val with pleading puppy dog eyes, "Listen, can I see you tonight? Just me and you?"
"I guess, for a little bit after I put the kids to bed." She seemed a bit hesitant but agreed.
"Yeah, after my daughters leave, I'll come over tonight for a bit." I placed my forefinger under her chin to bring her face to kiss me. "I want some alone time." Kiss. "Just for us."
I wrapped my arms around Valentina to hold her in a tight embrace for a few minutes until she leaned up to kiss my cheek.
"Now let's go watch the movie!" I smacked her ass and grabbed her hand to lead the way.
