Marshall POV

After the stressful ordeal of confronting Valentina's asshole parents, I had to pull into a parking lot and hold her as she cried telling her over and over that it was going to be ok. She and her little girls were part of my family now. Val told me about what happened with her mother, and it was a watered-down version of everything her piece of shit dad said. The dumbasses have a beautiful daughter and adorable little grandkids that they don't even care to be part of their lives.

I knew Valentina was going through crazy emotions and was trying her best to keep it under control, but I allowed her to cry while I comforted her. And then I stayed quiet as we drove and respected the silence that Val apparently needed.

I had listened to Valentina tell stories of her dysfunctional family since the day we met, but it was a difference experience to witness it firsthand. Her old man was a real fucking piece of work. Such a miserable old fuck. We went straight to Sierra's from there get the girls. I knew that would cheer Val up.

Val told her friend that her morning went bad, and they'd talk about it later. She then hugged her goodbye and I helped Val put their stuff in the back of my rented Range Rover.

When we got back to the rented beach house, I told Valentina I'd take care of the girls for the afternoon if she wanted to lay down and relax for a little. She decided to take a bath and I spoke to her in the bathroom as she was sitting in the tub filling the water.

"I know what happened today was extremely hurtful baby, so I want you to take it easy today. Take your time to get yourself together but get ahold of your aunt and uncle and Sierra. We're having a party tonight!"

A relieved smile spread over Val's face, and I kissed her firmly. I wanted all her memories from earlier that day to disappear. I wanted my happy Valentina back.

"Tell em to come around six and bring a bathing suit!" I called over my shoulder to leave her alone in the bathroom.

I placed an order with a local catering company, for an amazing dinner of linguine with shrimp and a butter sauce, manicotti in a marinara sauce, two types of salad, and slivers of cheesecake for dessert. I wanted to make a good impression on Val's people, but I also wanted everyone to kick back and not have to worry about anything.

Bella and Cassaundra played on the beach with me for an hour or two before I went to wake Val to get ready. She was sprawled out in the bed with her arms stretched over her head. She looked like an angel laying there in slumber.

Valentina was calm upon waking and started getting dressed and doing her hair. This time, Val wore yet another flowing skirt and her hair up with curly tendrils framing her face. Val in a dress drives me crazy. She has the best legs I've ever seen on a woman before.

Valentina's aunt and uncle arrived first. Her Aunt Rosie was so funny saying she thinks she saw me on an MTV award show before. I hadn't been on an MTV award show for twenty years, but she probably had seen me at some point. Next was Val's cousin Maria and her kids and significant other. It was nice to see Val's daughters be able to spend time with extended family and I was glad the kids had a pool to have fun in plus some awesome food.
