An Itachi Fanfiction

Finale

As soon as we got back to the village, we held a funeral for all those that had passed during this war. Naruto became quite the celebrity. My father, Sasuke and Obito were all arrested and put on trial for their crimes. Kakashi Sensei started the preparations to become the Sixth Hokage.

One day, I was summoned to the Hokage's office. I walked in to see Aunty Tsunade, Shizune and Kakashi Sensei waiting for me.

"I believe you and I had an agreement," Aunty Tsunade started. My eyes widened as I was brought back to our conversation before the war started. "Congratulations, you are now officially a Chūnin!"

A big smile lit up my face and I was practically jumping up and down. "Thank you so much!"

She smiled for a moment before her face turned serious again. "This is one more matter I wish to discuss". My smile faded slightly when I saw the look on her face. "I would like you to become a member of the ANBU Black Ops under my direct supervision".

My eyes widened again. When I was a child, it was all I ever wanted. But standing here now, after everything that had happened, I knew what my answer would be. "Thank you for the offer, but I have to decline".

They all looked taken aback. They exchanged confused looks before turning back to me. "But we were told that was what you wanted when you were a child".

'Damn you, Sasuke!' Sasuke and Itachi were the only ones I told about that dream.

Flashback

A young Sasuke and I were watching Itachi train. Itachi had declared it time to go back inside. Sasuke was disappointed because he wanted to train as well. He tried to show off his Shuriken Jutsu, but he was reckless so he fell over and hurt his knee. Because I was still learning Medical Ninjutsu, I didn't feel confident in my skills, which Itachi was very kind about.

Itachi was carrying Sasuke on his back through the Uchiha compound when we passed the Leaf Police Force, where Uncle Fugaku worked.

"Isn't that the Leaf Police Force?" I pointed out, trying to make conversation to distract from Sasuke's idiocy.

"That building is where father works, isn't it?" Sasuke pointed out. I could see the curiosity in his eyes.

Itachi nodded. "It's headquarters for the Leaf Police Force".

"I was wondering, how come the Uchiha crest is part of the Leaf Police Force insignia?" Sasuke pondered. I had always wondered that, but I didn't know how to ask.

"It was the Uchiha clan's earliest ancestors who established the police here in the village," Itachi explained. "So when they created the symbol for the organisation, they used the family crest. Since a long time ago, the Uchiha have always ensured peace here. The crest is a testament to our clan's pride in a way centuries old. Over the years, the Uchiha clan has grown smaller, but even now, nearly all of us are part of the force and work to uphold the peace in the village. Which is good because only the most exceptional of shinobi can weed out the criminals hiding among their brethren".

Sasuke was amazed. "Wow! Are you going to join the Force too?"

Itachi hesitated. "Well... I'm not sure".

"Why not?" Sasuke whined, even as he had a big smile on his face. "When I grow up, I'm definitely going to enter the Police Force!"

Itachi chuckled and then turned to me. "What about you? Are you going to enter the Police Force as well?"

I shook my head with a big smile. "When I grow up, I want to be a part of the ANBU Black Ops, just like you!"

He didn't reply. I could've sworn I saw his eyes darken for a moment because he quickly changed the subject.
